BRASIL.... Where is this place?
With this homepage, my foreign friend, I want you to know more about my wonderful country... and entice you to visit BRASIL!
For many people from other parts of the world -- maybe you, too ? -- our country is almost unknown. Some have a vague image of a distant place with jungles, indians, exotic people always in Carnival, dancing in the streets, african religious rituals, misery... and football (soccer).
Well, we have the Floresta Amazônica (Amazon Rainforest), the largest ecologic reserve of the world and one of the last green-lung of this earth, with the Amazon River (the world's most abundant, 6.500 kilometers long) -- and we have the Mata Atlântica (Atlantic Rainforest), one of the Planet’s most diverse ecosystems. Our Carnival (in february) is famous, specially in Rio de Janeiro, with spetacular parades of samba-schools. Brazilian soccer is great!! - we finish this Century as "Tetra-Champions" : the only team in the whole world that won 4 times the World Cup.....and almost won the 5th:))
But BRASIL -- notice that I am spelling the name as brazilians do, with “s” -- is much more. In our large territory -- the biggest country in South America -- there are a lot of “Brasils”... We have very poor regions, indeed, and serious social problems to resolve. But we have also big and developed cities, with intense cultural and artistic life, lots of very good Universities, fine museums, nice theaters, giant shopping-centers, all kind of entertainment and tourist attractions.
We have a generous climate, a kind and hospitable people and an exceptional Nature. Our litoral is one of the most beautiful of the world -- 8.000 kilometers with 2045 different beaches and islands! We have the Pantanal, another ecologic sanctuary with great rivers; the canyons of Chapada Diamantina; the Iguaçu Falls (more than 270 waterfalls plunging down from a height of 80 meters)... The fantastic caves in Alto Ribeira ; the archeologic sites in the National Park of the Serra da Capivara ...and MUCH MORE!!
Four little natural paradises in Brasil:
1. A fisherman arriving in Marujá, a small village in Cardoso Island
(an ecologic reserve in South litoral of São Paulo);
2. Sunset in the giant dunes os Genipabu beach in Natal,
(State of Rio Grande do Norte), where we use to climb by buggies;
3. The "enseada"(small bay) of Ferradurinha, one of the beaches in Buzios
(Region of the Lakes, North litoral, in the State of Rio de Janeiro)
4. The beautiful sea in Fernando de Noronha,
an archipelag with preserved beaches and transparent waters,
where you can swimm among the dolphins...
