An aerial view of our "Selva de Pedra", showing part of downtown
"São Paulo não pode parar!"
(São Paulo can't stop!).
This is the slogan that leads
our tireless megalopolis."Paulistas" (people from São Paulo) are
always in a whirlwind, rushing to work, facing the heavy traffic,
fighting against the watch......
"Vambora, vambora! Olha a
hora, vambora, vambora!!!"
(Let's go, let's go! Watch the time,
let's go, let's go!!!), says a song about Sampa. And so we
go...
But our city have its charms, too. Here you have an
intense cultural and artistic life, hundreds of cinemas and
theaters, very good spectacles and concerts, more than 1000
restaurants, a boiling nightlife, lots of entertainment, the biggest
shopping-centers...
In spite of the stressing life and behind the
appearance sometimes too serious, paulistas are "gente boa"!
(very fine people!)..:)
As we don't have beaches nor nature,
we enjoy the town meeting our friends, going out to dinner,
to dance -- or simply spending a nice time together in our homes
...
One thing is sure: if you need a real friend, look for us!...
- We are 10.017.821 persons,
inside the 1509 square kilometers (area) of the Capital (not
counting the Great São Paulo)
-There are 4.631.430 cars in
transit by the 14.000 km of streets and avenues
- The average
of congested traffic is over 100 km, everyday
- There are
4.500 traffic-lights (semáforos)in the town
- We have
11.004 buses, in 1277 different circuits along the city (the
biggest bus fleet in the world)...
- Every month, this fleet
circulates through 2,1 billions of kilometers... (twice the
distance between Earth and moon)
- Everyday, the paulistas eat
23 millions of “french bread”(a bread with 50g)
- And everyday
are eaten 2 millions of “Big-Macs”
- There are 16.000 pipes
of treated water along the city, and are consumed everyday 3.6
billions letres of water
- There are 40 parks in Sampa, but
it means only 3 meters of green area by person...
- Everyday
, 12.000 ton of garbage goes to the sanitary earth embankement,
to be treated
- We have 1599 bank agencies in the town
...
and everyday, 565 children are born in São Paulo!
