The Main Street Electrical Parade, which originally ran from June 11, 1977 - September 14, 1991, has returned to The Magic Kingdom to delight guests again and some for the first time. It is made up of numerous floats themed to Disney movies and characters ranging from Cinderella to Pete's Dragon. The thing that makes this parade special is that the delightful floats are covered with thousands of tiny colourful lights, and even characters such as Mickey and Goofy are clothed in glittering costumes. All of the floats from the original parade are back, and there are even quite a few which have never been seen at Walt Disney World, such as Captain Hook's pirate ship and a float themed to Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The music from the original parade is back and sounds better than ever, making you want to stand up and dance. The floats themselves look better than ever as well, because they have been refurbished using shinier, more reflective material, making the parade an awe-inspiring and very nostalgic sight.
Interesting and little known facts
-the music for the parade was not written by Disney or for the parade, it was written by Gershon Kingsley and Jean Jaques Perry who called it Baroque Hoedown. All Disney did was overlap the song with disney songs!
-after the original Main Street Electrical Parade stopped performing at the Magic Kingdom it was shipped to Disneyland Paris!
-the parade uses 575,000 lightbulbs, and enough batteries to light up a street of 32 homes!
