Kisiwa =Island , Chetu = Our(s)
Located on the Eastern coast of Africa are 2 tiny islands called Zanzibar Islands. These islands have also got clubbed around them other tiny islands that make the whole set a little paradise escape. The bigger of the 2 islands is generally called Zanzibar though locally it is called 'Unguja' and the smaller of the 2 islands is called 'Pemba'.

 Zanzibar Islands have been very famous through out ages for supplying almost the whole planet with spices especially cloves and they were at certain times called 'The Islands of Spices' or 'Islands of Cloves'. Traders came from around the world into Zanzibar ports to barter their merchandise for spices and some of them settled. The language which has evolved from different languages of the world is spoken by most people on the coast of East Africa. 'Kiswahili' is so rich having incorporated words from languages of all traders that landed in the islands.

No doubt the settled traders mixed freely with the natives of the Islands and so the people are very beautiful in every way. Zanzibaris (people form Zanzibar Islands) have retained all the very best from different countries and cultures and incorporated them into their own culture. As a result the people are beautiful in appearance, beautiful in personality and very very generous and have a high standard of hospitality and high standard of moral beliefs and practices.

To best enjoy and experience some of African culture away from Africa, you could visit my other pages that talk about food and market following which you could simply follow some of my momma's recipes collected along with other exquisite African delicacies, in my African recipes page or you could simply learn some KiSwahili (Swahili) right here on the web. If that is not good enough then you could try visiting pages out side my site, like the following link.
