Wagener Museum and Subritzki Homestead Photos |
|
The musem collection ranges from Maori carvings, paddles and war clubs to a display of 240 different chamber pots (also known as 'jerries'). Some of the old washing machines, vacuum cleaners and engines are still in working condition.A number of old musical instruments are on display, including several pianolas, music boxes, Edison gramophones which used wax cylinders as recording medium, and more recent wind up gramophones using 78 RPM disks. Keeping the instruments in playing condition is a hard task given the variations in humidity and temperature, not to mention a shortage of cash.
No, they are NOT latte cups! The Wagener Museum may have the worlds largest collection of chamber pots. | A Canadian made Doherty player piano. Still works too! |
The Subritzki Homestead. A picket fence around a wildflower garden.
An absolutely huge Magnolia. Smelled nice too. | The grounds around the Subritzki Homestead were full of wild flowers. |
The Puhutukawa tree is New Zealand's Christmas tree! | Blooms at Christmas time. |
