Ocean calm (16042 bytes)

Not so calm ocean (13874 bytes)

Many days were calm. We motored every once in a while. Somewhere just north of the equator, on a calm sunny day, we jumped into the ocean and scraped the goose barnacles off the bottom. Gained 1.25 knots of speed. Other days were more boisterous. Winds normally came from the Northeast or Southeast. Always behind us. The seas, both swell and wind waves also came from astern. Although every once in a while both came on the beam.

jellyfish (10270 bytes)

dolphins (18784 bytes)

Occasionally we saw these clear blue tinted jelly fish. this picture attests to the calmness of the ocean. The jelly fish is about the size of an apple, 15 feet away. Every once in a while we would see dolphins. Whales were seen just off the coast of Mexico. On one occasion a pod of pilot whales swam by but the camera was too far away to fetch!

Sunsets and sunrises occurred in tedious but beautiful regularity. Clouds always provided the spectacular differences in tone, pattern and colour.
