Eureka Victorian house. Many are used as small business or law offices while others remain residences. Sailing under the Golden Gate bridge was very exciting. After three days of finicky winds and steady fog, the wind settled down for our entrance into San Francisco Bay.

Our landfall was Angel Island in the Bay area at one of the public moorings. This park is a great place to visit.  Remains of various establishments show the show the many roles Angel Island played in the history of San Francisco. Mission Delores of San Francisco is a beautiful example of the Spanish mission style in California and the first of many that we visited on the west coast.

Former presidential yacht Potomac stately motors by. This yacht is based in Oakland for charters. Morro rock looming out of the fog. It was foggy the morning we entered the harbour using the radar to spot the markers.

The courthouse in Santa Barbara. A fantastical combination of Spanish architecture. Climbed the clock tower for a birds eye view of Santa Barbara. Two Harbours anchorage in the Catalina Island of the Channel Islands group. Quite pleasant in the fall with only a few boats using the moorings. In the summer this bay is completely filled with boats moored cheek by jowl.

Star of India at the San Diego Maritime Museum. This is a working ship that sails at least once a year with a crew of volunteers. Ornamental grasses grow wild in California.
