A visit to the Kek Lok Si
Temple is a must during the Chinese new year. Why? Because this is the time where the
temple is decorated with lights and thousands of yellow and red lanterns. These lanterns
are donated by devotees. The lights
and lanterns will be on for 15 nights beginning from the first day of the Chinese new year
until the 15th day which is Chop Goh Meh. At this time , the temple will be open until 11
PM for the public.
The temple was built in the year 1890 and
was situated on the hill side of Air Itam, Penang. It was a magnificent view at night.
Thousands of devotees come to offer prayers to Lord Buddha and Kuan Yin.
