The Terai is a huge jungle area in the southern part of the country, near the border with India. All sorts of cool wild animals, including many that eat humans! A pain in the ass to get to (even by third world standards), but worth the trip.
Even a hundred miles away, the Himalyan views are still great. Notice Macchapuchre (Fish Tail) mountain on the left - it's the holiest Himalayan peak.
A typical morning scene in a village in the Terai. And this was dry season!
The best and safest (see below), although not the most comfortable way to see wildlife is on an elephant safari. This is the Departure Gate.
Mist enshrouds us on the elephant safari. Not much of a mountain view here!
O.K., now we're talking. Close up of a rhino, which, FYI, don't mess with elephants.
A old man making a fence (presumably not to hold rhinos) the old fashioned way.
One more sensitivity photo before your departure.
