Sameer Kumar
Hi! This is Sameer. I am 29, male-ish, and I exist (somewhat, somehow...) in the great city of Bombay. No, not Mumbai. Bombay. I love this city, and have been working here as a hack for the last 4 years or so. School/college was in Lucknow. Then, spent a couple of years working in Baroda, and then Lucknow. Set up my own small little company in Lucknow in 1996. Multimedia authoring, animation, audio/video production and post-production, VFX, CAD, and much else. Had loads of fun. Lost loads of money. Lost friends. Gained enemies.
Then, saw a copy of CHIP magazine in mid-1998, and immediately, felt like going to work for the mag, and hence, wrote to the Editor asking him if he'd let me. Went. Got to speak to Gourav (the Editor at CHIP, and one of the most amazing men I have ever met in my life...), and got a job. Moved to Bombay. Wrote articles on technology and computers for the next two years. The Internet boom happened, so moved to CNET. Then, in some months, got tired of that as well, and went looking for a job at Indian Auto - the country's oldest automotive monthly. The publishers made me Editor. For the next year and a half, drove fast cars and bikes, banged them around a lot, broke a few bones and teeth, and ultimately got out of there as well. Worked with the Industrial Design Centre for some time, and then joined ITNation India, to help them set up an end-user / consumer-computing portal Sort of. Which is what I am doing now...
Love fast cars (Ferraris and Lamborghinis), Superbikes (Yamaha R1, Ducati 996, Kawasaki Ninja ZX-9R, Suzuki Hayabusa), Computers, Animation, Digital audio/video production, music (love playing my synth), and anything that's very fast and very dangerous.... Also, walking by the sea in the evening. I love Bombay, and I love the sea... All I want to do in life is write about cars and superbikes. Drive/ride them, and write about them. Someday, also wish to Direct and Produce my own television show on automobiles, make a short feature film, produce my own music album, and.... well, still thinking about it....
