July 3 – England with Family

We truly regretted leaving Ireland, but it was time to cross over to England to spend some time with my niece Lisa and her husband Chris and their daughters.

---

We drove to Shannon airport which is near Limerick. Yes, the home of the famous rhymes of the same name. We read that Limerick poems were named for a group of poets in the county Limerick (not the town) who invented the form. And yes, the original limericks were naughty too.

This time, we were better prepared for Ryanair. We carried more in our backpacks as carry on luggage and paid less for the checked luggage overage. Please note, however, that Ryanair may weigh your carry on as well. It has a weight limit as well.

We made it to Gatwick airport with no problem and Lisa was there to pick us up. We spent a pleasant afternoon on family gossip and that night, Chris grilled us salmon. No touring today, just a slice of English suburban life in Camberly.
