Day 1 - Jerusalem |

||
Jerusalem is a modern city of one-half million people. There are signs that make an American feel at home, although the city has a distinct European flavor. |
However, it is the old city that holds the importance of the city to all the religions of the Western world. |
Day 1 Jerusalem |
Right - We stayed across the street from the walls of the old city. There are several gates entering the old city. This is Japa Gate, one of the more bustling. Heather met us here one morning and showed us where one could get a great falafel. (Good cheap food on a student's income.) Below - Inside the gates one immediately enters small streets winding through the city. It is much as it must have been throughout the three-thousand-year history of Jerusalem. (With some signs of the modern world.)
