We checked out of our hotel and left at 8:30am for a bus tour of the city. Seville contains many interesting buildings built as part of the 1929 Expo. Most all of the Pavillions are used today. One of the largest at the Expo was the Spanish Pavillion: Plaza de America. Only a small part of the plaza is shown in the picture below. Circling all around the Plaza were tile murals giving the history of almost every city in Spain. Below the mural, was a tile map of Spain showing the cities location. The buildings surrounding the plaza are now used as government buildings.
The bus dropped us off at the site of the third largest cathederal in Europe (behind St. Peters and St. Pauls). We then walked to the Jewish quarter where we shopped for ceramics. The Jews hide in this section during World War II.
Seville was also the site of an Expo in 1992. Improvements to the train station, bridges, and roads were made for the Expo in addition to the Pavillions. We left Seville for Lisbon at 11:30.
