Welcome to Thaiboy Homepage
- The growth of Thailand's tourism industry has played and will always play a key role in the country's devlopment. As concern about protecting the world's envelopment has grown
in recent years, Thailand in adoping a strict environmental conservation policy, has developed and promoted
"Eco-Tourism." During 1998 - 1999, Amazing Thailand Year, you will be able to enjoy many more exciting in my web, without fear of damaging or destroying the nature environmental.
- Thailand has also formulated policies and strategies for environmental conversation, for instance, initiating systems for wastewater treatment and garbage disposal in national park; stipulating safety standards for adventure tours and delivering new trour programmes which do not impact nagatively on the eco-system. Added to this are plans to develop ways and means to overcome current
environmental problems as well as tackling problems which may affect the eco-tour business in the future.
- Eco-tourism is one type of tourism that attempts to takecare and maintain the environment of touring places and resources especially the ecological system of touring places.
Ecotourism is a part of conservation tourism which is developed to sustainable tourism. Many definitions may be given to ecotourism but all of them focus on the responsibility of touring. Environmental management and knowledge given to relevant persons are the main issues to be set up at each natural touring place.
- For a clear understanding and to follow the same development method, the Tourism Authotity of Thailand (TAT) has defined the meaning of ecotourism that is the way of touring with responsibility in natural touring places where there are local uniqueness and cultural sources related to ecological system.
This process should be mutually recognised by concerned persons under environmentally management and joint touring in order to maintain a sustainable ecological system.
- Aware of the importance of nature, many countries worldwide have proclaimed wildlife preservation and protection laws. For Thailand, such a law was enacted in 1960 to control wildlife hunting, trade and possession. At the same time, wildlife sanctuaries were designated. The promulgation of the 1960 Wildlife Preservation and Protection Act marked a significant step for serious efforts to protect wildlife and forests in Thailand.
- Later the National Parks Act came into force and Khao Yai was declared Thailand's first national park in 1961. A total of 63 national parks have so far been designated in the country, covering a total area of 21.17 million rai.
- Various national parks consist of major watershed areas. They are protected by law, while forestry officials prevent an counter forest encroachment. Apart from protecting forest areas, national parks also provide services to tourists in the from of imformation and tourism facilities. While offering tourism services, national parks raise visitors' awareness of natural conservation at the same time.
- Most visitors to national parks are domestic tourists, but a Khao Yai national park is well-known and popular among tourists worldwide. It has benn recognized as one of the best birdwatching sites and study centers for rare plant species in tropical rain forests os ASEAN. Such marine national parks as the Similan and Tarutao Islands in
southern Thailand are very popular among divers worldwide.
- Interested tourists can seek information about various national parks in Thailand at the Accommodation Service Sub-divition, National Park Division, Royal Forestry Department Bang Khen in Bangkok, Tel. (66 2) 579-0529, 579-4842, or at each national park.
- After obtaining preliminary information about national parks, tourists should use it to work out their programs which include travelling time by car, and to plan activities such as birdwatching, trekking or mountain climbing and what they should bring with them such as appropriate shoes and sleeping bags.
- The best time to explore and experience national parks like mountainous area and waterfalls are ranging from August to October when nature is at its best.
