City of Comodoro Rivadavia

Next photos were made by Rolando Caviglia, he is Chief of Port, that is the reason why in most of them you can see the Port of Comodoro Rivadavia.

I have to say that they can be rather old, like 3 years old or something like that, you can note that in some buildings that this days are finished, mainly new LA ANONIMA building (you can not see it here and it exists now

Downtown, traveller. Here are banks, shopping, city hall, restaurants, dancing, hotels. Main shops are here, although now we have some small shopings centers in other areas of the city.

And the sea, and that blue sky we have here in patagonia. But we try and we try (and it is one of the few things we do in a serious way), but we are not able to contaminate it. The sea and the ground near the city are full of debris ,but we cannot with the sky. (we are lucky for now, it is mainly organic debris, no chemicals).

But, what is that that I can see up and to the right??. easy traveller, easy, it is not that strange thing you are smoking, nor alcohol or pills, (all right, any one have his owns preferences, havent it?) J )

YES, WE ARE RECLAMING LANDS TO THE SEA, AND WHAT?.

Ok, that of reclam is by now and only in a small area, in the rest of the area the sea is hitting us !!!.

WAIT A MOMENT, WAIT A MOMENT, IT IS NOT PATAGONIA, AN INHABITATED AREA WITH LESS THAN AN HABITANT PER SQUARE KM?,what the hell anyone needs to reclam lands to the sea?. We are not in Japan, China or Europe, all the people living toghether.

Ok, buut that is our way, ARGENTINOS, and in Patagonia Argentina, with something like 1.000.000 square Km for 1.000.000, we are reclaming lands to the sea, . (It is only until the sea gets angry and reclams then again).

It seem the one of above, but you can see a bigger area, traveler. You can see the cathedral, the Central Office of the Army, Tourism Hotel (it is not a hotel, actually).

Again with disturbing questions?.

Ok, until 3 years ago, in Tourism Hotel, were the library, university and court of justice . In the building made for court of justice (with coulters and,cells ), a technical high school, the court of hall in the building of the museum, the museum in the building of public bathrooms, and a militar high school in a building made for orphans. To build the Tourism Hotel some drafts were bringed from Bariloche, I think,and so it has a very nice bridge so a small river can go under it. (They did not bring here the small river). The Militar Central Office is in the building that was built for that ,but in the square that was supposed to be the Central Park . (That is why Comodoro has only a little garden, instead of a Central Park) .

THis days I do not know; but I think all is more or less the same

You are disturbing me with that of reclaiming lands to the sea, and youu must now that we are thinking in reclam a lot more.

The color of the sea in the lower part is beacause the waves removes the sediment that were left in that area after the hills felt into the sea .

But what a blue sea and a light blue sky.

This is suburb. Big empty area is LU4, an AM radio,you can hear it in almost all patagonia, and it is one of the older. Big buildings are cold facilities I think. Here begins Industrial Area.

Je,je (so we call the area in which oil services companies have their campaments, and some cold facilities and some light industries).For industries (we have a few of them), we have a special area we call Industriall Park.

But anyway, Comodoro is a city that lives mainly of himself, not by means of gubernamental funds.

We continuos to the south. Last buildings of industrial area, and to the far Rada Tilly.

I say, so that in Comodoro we need desesperately houses,why they do not build them here ;and not 17 km away so the families has to sped a fortune in a month to work or to study?.

You have turned around traveller, and you are going to the N. As a reference it is low tide. With high tide the sea arrives to the wall that is protecting those 3 high buildings. The photo is old, now the Port is finished.

Very nice photo (it is not twisted, it reveals the sensibility of the photographer taking Comodoro in an original point of view).

In the center Rivadavia Avenue. (that of two streets with something between (or amongst?) them). The building located it that place is Public Bathrooms, now Museum .

To the right of the screen San Martín Street (It is considered main street). In the top, Pietrobelly Suburb (La Loma). You can guess traveller, wich area is Hell's Corner and wich one is Paradise's Balcony .

It is a pity that the photo has not the detail that it should has.

It is near high tide, traveller. You can see coastal configuration, to the S.

Right and bottom of the screen you can see restaurants, to eat fish, shell-fishs, crayfish and marine spider-crab. (all of the area, may be shell-fish not). I recomend you marine spider-crab with lemon, mayonnaise and nothing more (ok, withe wine, may be), and nautical club.

The bulding with light blue roof is marine police.

This is Chenque Hill

To the right of the screen sarmiento Street. The photo must be about 1995 o 1996. Good seeing of Hell's Corner and Paradise's Balcony. Good seeing of panoramic site (and from the panoramic site the view of the city and the sea is wonderful!!!!).

As you can realize, traveller this is the area in wich the hill colapses time to time, and closes the road. Today the hill looks different, beacause the city dismounted some area dangerous near Sarmiento street .

I think we are above the port, looking N. You can see YPF oil tanks, Restinga Coronel, del Medio y la Alí (restinga are those lands which goes into the sea).

Photo is in low tide, in high tide they are sumerged. First suburb is KM3 (it begins after the tanks).

To the right Cerro Chenque. Then Fake Marquez Tip (it is between (or among?) Comodoro and Rada Tilly), and after, Marquez Tip, southest point of Rada Tilly.

You can see in the center of the photo downtown.

I am not sure above wich neighbourhood we are.
