MY STORY

  a getaway...

MY LINKS

Once in a while, we have to go somewhere else. We all need a break from the hustle and bustle of a fast paced lifestyle or from a slow and boring daily routine. There are many different places somewhere out there where we will find a time to unwind, relax and enjoy. For many travelers, it is about a journey to far away places with loved ones while at the same time seeking to renew relationships - whether strained or taken for granted. It is not just about the wonders of the world, the enticing beauty of nature, and the alluring beaches, but an inner journey and a celebration of the gifts of life and love God has given us. For the much more spiritually inclined, it is about going to a place of peace, quite and solitude. There we can be in touch with God and ourselves; reminisce our moments of triumph; reflect on our failures in order to sort things out and put things in the right perspective; and nurse our beleaguered body and spirit. Depending on our common or individual taste and lifestyle, we all have a favorite place go. Usually, many of us call it "a getaway..."

    a dream...

I see myself building My Beach Sanctuary somewhere in the tropics. It is situated in more than 4 hectares of land in the very sparsely populated village of "Nabungcagan". The vicinity  is a part of a solitary cove facing the sea. It is littered with lofty coconut trees; carpeted with perennial grasses and wild shrubs; irregularly lined on its shores with thick mangroves; and strewn with several other variety of tropical trees and plants. A portion of the land is beautifully nestled near the mouth of a river. Its tropical  surrounding is  matched by its uniquely idyllic ambience. Accessibility is not a problem because the highway is just a 160 meters distance. The town proper - Babatngon, Leyte, Philippines - is about 4 kilometers away, making it a place of relative peace and quiet. Still in its initial stage of development, a lot is still to be desired. It might take a very long time to develop though. In the meantime, we may enjoy its raw beauty and rustic charm.

I wrote a amateurish poem today (July 11, 1999, Sunday, from 6:30 PM - 7:05 PM, but revised several times), dedicated to My Beach Sanctuary. Copyrighted July 11, 1999 © My Beach Sanctuary CLICK HERE OR THE IMAGE BELOW TO SEE THE PICTURE GALLERY

MY BEACH SANCTUARY

Eternal rhythm of the waves on its shore,
subdued whistling of a soothing soft breeze,
effervescent songs of sparrows dancing:
'am enraptured with such polyphonic overture.

I always travel down the road of solitude,
when life's weight becomes too much to bear,
there to seek myself and God in His creation,
for all find peace in harmony with nature.

Life is like sun and moon rising and setting -
the scorching sun could be too much to take,
then the moon shines in the midst of darkness
bringing stillness and a restful sleep.

My Beach Sanctuary is a special place
because of its comfort, safety and peace
for my beleaguered body and spirit
hoping our maker gives  me strength to keep.
