Glasgow

One slow day while I was slowly drifting into a work-sleep-work style rut in my job in London, I recieved and email from my Auntie Liz. She told me all about the grand plan to gain a peaceful household at home by sending her husband and son all the way to Scotland for a few weeks! The beauty of this was that I got to see them again after many months and I got to visit Glasgow (however briefly) at the same time. I couldn't get any time off work at that stage so could only head up there for the weekend. So I decided to pack as much into that weekend as possible!

The next piece of good news was that my Uncle Lynn had scored tickets to watch Glasgow Rangers play at Ibrox vs St Johnston!! So now I got to watch my first live footy match in the UK AND go to Glasgow AND see Lynn and Callum again.....this weekend was just getting better and better.

Getting there was easier than I thought, I just jumped on a train from Reading, got off at Glasgow, jumped another train to Guarock and then walked maybe 100m if that to Lynn's mothers place where the boys were staying.

Once there, Lynn and Callum took me for a quick quided tour of Guarock. This was the town that Lynn grew up in and I could tell he was enjoying reminicing about all the things that had changed and the many things that hadn't! On the right you can see a pic of the natural pool that Lynn learned to swim in....containing water directly from the Clyde. If you try swimming in this pool you get whats called a Scottish Tan....you go in white and you come out blue!
Above are another couple of pics I took while there. I had forgotten how much I missed the sight of water....it was overwhelming. The Thames just can't compete.

more Gurock...
