Belfast
While Dan and I were in Belfast we took a walk up to Stormont, which in case the name doesn't mean anything to you is the Nrthn Irish Parliment. I have to admit that I felt a tinge of nerves for the first time while I was headed towards such a centre of local hostility, but it was all very relaxed really.
On the right is a closer picture of Stomont, its a very grand building, but it was spookily quiet at the time we were there because it wasn't in use due to a break down in the peace talks. Let me tell you, hearing the words "breakdown in peace talks" while you're in Belfast is enough to give anyone a case of the nerves!
After visiting Stormont, Dan and I went out in Belfast for a few pints. Its was a kind of quiet night, but a friendly barman suggested that we head to a place called the Empire. We headed up there and found it was a comedy bar AND it was packed!!! They had about 3 or 4 comedians on that night including an English guy (brave fucker) who was luckily very good at take the piss out of himself. Although the the best laugh of his set came when he asked the audience if they wanted to see a magic trick and some smart arse yelled back "Yeah, disappear!"
The sign on my left was the my first of many run-ins with "Irish logic". A park specifically for dogs.......I loved it!
