Galway
Galway was one cool town and Dan and I wanted to go there for St Patties day which was fast approaching, but we couldn't get accomodation for that date, so we decided that Dublin would be our St Patties day stomping ground as Mum and Dad had given me the number of a friend of the family who wanted me to vist them and they only lived a hours bus ride from Dublin.
Now I didn't manage to take any pics of Galway itself unfortunately (well not on this visit anyway....there was to be others in the future). But Dan and I stayed in a hostel called the Salmon Weir Hostel. A tiny wee joint run by an Aussie guy and a one hell of a friendly place to stay. I fully recommend it. The only downside to Galway that I could see so far was that I couldn't find a single Irish person anywhere! It was all internationl studnets and tourists! I suppose I couldn't really complain seeing as I was far from being a local myself, but I didn't come all the way here to meet other tourists now did I?
One thing that I did get to go for while I was there was another step towards getting over my fear of heights. I had decided that I would try and really push it while I was travelling. My first attempt was foiled by the tourist seasons. I was going to walk across the highest rope bridge in Ireland at a place called Carrick-a-reede, but unfortunately they didn't have it open at the time of year that I was there for. So next on the list was the cliffs of Moher, 200 feet of sheer rockface. So with that, onto the cliffs of Moher!
