The sign said 2km, that sounded like a reasonable hike.
Joy did try and find her hiking shoes in the trunk but
they were buried too deep. Oh well, the path looks
tame. Certainly no worse than the one to Macdonald
Falls earlier.
This initial path was thru meadows
where Looey found many flowers to
take pictures of. Shortly the path
came entered the woods, with even
more flowers for Looey.
To see pictures of the the flowers |
It was not very far into the woods
when the path started getting
steeper... |
and steeper...it was obvious by now
that we were climbing up the mountain
but the sign had said 2km so it couldn't
be too far up the mountain. (famous last words) |
and steeper! What the sign failed to say
was that, one of the km was strait up!
Looey emerges from the woods.
He had made one of his many
stops along the path so had
ended up behind me.
Here we are above the tree line.
the terrain has changed from
woods to rocks.
Josh had found the falls
and returned to urge us
on, saying: "its worth it!"
We finally made it. There was even an inviting
rock to use for a chair to sit on while enjoying
them. Josh was right it definitely was worth it.
This was the veiw from our
"rock" chair.
Josh wasn't satisfied we want to see how
close he could get to the falls. Here he
is taking pictures of he rapids in front of
us from a perch many feet higher.
At this point he decided
He was high enough. Actually
he was up to the snow bank.
He felt the spray from the falls
as the wind picked up. A little
later so did we, sitting on the rock.
Now the time had come to go
back down the path. That
should be much easier!
If you picture the center mountain
and the tree line and the grass line
lining up, the falls are behind the
first mountain a little below where
the mountains of the two pictures meet.
