As we started out Thursday to go to the
other side of the park, we taveled along
the shore of Lake Macdonald. On the far
end of the Lake Macdonald Creek enters
the lake. A sign said Macdonald Falls,
we decided to drive in and see them.

Going-to-sun road goes through
Logan's Pass to the otherside
of the Rocky Mountains. At times
mother nature needed a helping
hand to make a path wide enough
for cars. Here is one of the
tunnels through the mountain edge. |
|
|
The view coming out of the
tunnels was spectacular.
Here Josh caught the beauty. |
Not long after we passed
the Logan Pass Visitor Center
we came across these falls.
Reynolds Falls
is from a stream that flows right
up to the road. |
|
|
As you drive along the road
from the falls you get several
views of Going-to-the-sun Mountain.
|
There are also several
places along the road
where there are snow
drifts right up to the
road even in August.
Imagine what they are
like in January!

While we were in Glacier it was announced
that the buses that are used for tours of
the park were being retired. This is one
of the buses. They will be replaced with
modern van buses.
|
At Rising Sun Visitor Center
we found a whole fleet of the
buses. In my opinion its a
shame the old buses can't be
replaced with ones like them.
It adds a special touch to
touring by bus.

We traveled along St. Mary's Lake for many
miles. It had many pull overs but this
one was especially inviting. It had a
great view of the lake, a trail to walk
down and flowers.
|
We reached our destination,
the town of St. Mary, early.
We decided to make the drive
up to Many Glaciers since we
were early. On the road into
Many Glacier is Lake Sherburne
pictured here.
|
|
|
Also along the road was a field
of wild flowers. We stopped for
Looey to take pictures and discover
a trail to Apikuni Falls. The sign
said 2km. That seemed like a nice
afternoon hike.
|
On our way out,
we met these cows.
They seem to think
THEY own the road!
