Rare snow in the port village of Koyo on Etajima

This photo was taken in February 1999. Ferry and speedboat services connect island settlements to the mainland. From Koyo you can easily get to the cities of Hiroshima and Kure. Etajima is also connected via other islands to the mainland by road bridge. Many of the more remote islands are also becoming connected to the mainland under the Government's ongoing bridge-building program.
