In February 1999, the 'in' fashion was the 'Hawaiian' beach look. Lots of fake tan, pastel colors, and bleached highlights in hair. By now that will be well out of date; trends change quickly and are never dull in Japan. This has led to Japan becoming a major influence on SE Asian youth, and even European Haute Couture.
