"The English Isle"

Differences -- "Here" vs "There"

When the first English colonists arrived in the U.S., our two cultures

began to diverge. And, although we still share the same language (even if

what's below may show otherwise), many facets of day-to-day life are

different enough to make it a little challenging for relocating Americans. I

first realised this coming home from work after a long day. As I pulled out

of McDonald's, I saw a little girl on the sidewalk giving me the most

peculiar look ..... something didn't feel quite right ..... she seemed way too

close ....almost on top of me. I found out that if you don't pay attention,

you forget that here, they drive on the "right" (or should I say left) side of

the road. Anyway, this page covers some of the most obvious differences.
