The honeymoon actually started when we left the reception. We hopped in a limo and were off to downtown Chicago. We were supposed to stay at the Drake, but the guy at the front desk said that they were having plumbing problems in our room, so we got sent over to the Ritz Carlton instead. We got to the room, which was a small hallway with two bathrooms and a
bedroom, and a beautiful lake view. But there were these French doors on the opposite side of the hallway, and they were cracked just a little bit. So we opened them up and this is what we saw:
There was a grand piano, dining room for 12, kitchen, two more bathrooms, huge living room, study, two story windows, and a telescope. Unbelievable. The next morning we found out the French doors were supposed to be LOCKED and that wasn't our room at all--it was the "State Suite". Oh well--we were just lucky!
Here are a few more pictures from the Ritz
This was the view from our suite of Lake Michigan and Navy Pier.
How often do you get to play piano in wedding garb at 2 in the morning?!
