Melrose (2453 kms) An historic town at the southern end of the Flinders Ranges, Melrose declares itself to be 'the oldest town in the Flinders Ranges'. For the bush walking enthusiast there are numerous walks from Melrose through the Mt Remarkable National Park. This is just one of many small historic towns we travel through on the way from Port Augusta to the northern boundary of the Barossa Valley.
Clare (2584 kms) The main town in the Clare Valley, one of the premier wine growing districts in South Australia. It is an ideal base for exploring the thirty wineries in the region. The Clare Valley may not be as well known as the Barossa Valley but it has the typical beauty common to all wine growing areas.
Morgan (2706 kms) A pleasant small historic town on a bend, known as "The Great Bend", in the Murray River. One of the more interesting points for travellers is the car ferry, which is the only way to cross the river here.
Berri (2803 kms) A substantial town on the banks of the Murray River, Berri has become famous for its huge wine and orange juice factory which produces a high proportion of Australia's orange juice.
Renmark (2828 kms) The oldest town on the Murray River, Renmark is the centre for a very large orchard region. The area, because of an excellent irrigation scheme, is suitable for growing a wide range of fruits, including grapes, stone fruit, citrus fruit, garlic and recently pecan nuts.
Route 3 - Through Horrocks Pass To Renmark
From Renmark it is approximateley 30kms to the border with Victoria. The first major centre in Victoria will be Mildura.
