The Trek to Phnom Penh

Although it's a cheap and short plane ride away from Siem Reap, we opted to take a boat to Phnom Penh to get a feel for the country.  As it happens, we got more of a feel than we bargained for.  If you don't reserve an actual seat on this particular boat, it turns out, you ride on the roof--which, it turns out, isn't actually designed to hold people.  You live; you learn.  That day we learned how to balance on a slippery convex surface, and to wear sun block when exposed to bright sun for five hours on open water.  The only real casualty of the day was a roll of film containing some pictures of Siem Reap and the trek to the boat.

The foreigners on the upper deck (note to Star Trek fans: I think the guy in the sunglasses is Q).

Fortunately we came loaded with fresh dragon fruit--prettier than it tastes, but filling.
