Aloha and welcome to the the Na Ali'i Productions website. Read on and enjoy as you journey through the islands of Polynesia, where we'll take you around the triangle to the islands of New Zealand, Samoa, Tahiti and Hawaii. Our first stop is the island of HAWAII where we greet you with the word "Aloha". Here we feature our kane and wahine doing a song called, "Pretty Little Hula Girl." How many of you have been to the island of Oahu...how bout the city of Waikiki.... We're sure that you must have fond memories of the city, but for those of you who havent been there, we take you back to the swinging 20's and 30's those Dorothy Lamour days...we take you "Round and Round in Waikiki." Talofa and welcome to the island of SAMOA. The Island of Samoa has been linked to Hawaii in many ways. Not only in the Landscape but also the Language. The greeting in Hawaii is "Aloha," In Samoa, we add a T and change the H to an F. Their greeting is "Talofa." Here on the mainland, we teach our children not to play with fire. But as soon as they're born in Samoa they are encouraged to eat fire, walk on it, play with it. NEW ZEALAND, land of the Long White Cloud, as the early Polynesians called it, looking toward a long snow capped mountain. On the island of New Zealand, the early warriors held what is called a Taiaha, a weapon which resembled a spear but was not used as spear...it was used to strike the opponent in war. Using different posture poses and facial expressions, he would place a carving or greenery at the visitors feet. If no one retrieved the offering, it meant war. To pick it up would signify he came in peace and a welcomed visit would begin with the greeting, "Ki'ora." Now to the island of TAHITI, and where our wahines do an Aparima, a tahitian hula. The welcome in Tahiti is "Iorana." Mahalo nui loa, thank you very much for visiting our website, we hope you've enjoyed your journey. WE ARE HALAU O NA ALI'I ONCE AGAIN MAHALO NUI LOA AND FROM OUR HEARTS TO YOURS ALLLOOOOOOOHA. |
