The Plantation Bay Resort on Mactan Island in Cebu is about three years old. All the buildings are done in plantation style architecture and face a beautifully landscaped artificial lagoon. It has a small beach. There are three nice restaurants, a recreation room, a fishing pond, and many other recreational activities.
The lobby of Plantation Bay is quite beautiful. The roof beams are ornate cast iron. There are no walls so the breezes blow across the lagoon and through the lobby. The dark hardwood floors feel very cool in this tropical setting. The large chandelier is made out of brass and capiz shell. Great place to sit and read a book.
Our one bedroom suite was quite nice. It had a big terrace that looked out on the lagoon. The kids slept on mattresses in the sitting room and had their own TV.
The landscaping was among the best we have seen in the Philippines. It was a pleasure just to walk the many trails through the gardens and around the lagoon. The large grounds are all self contained and the kids were free to roam.
There was a huge fresh water pool and an even bigger salt-water swim- ming lagoon with water- falls and slides. The sign takes a strong position on drowning and nudity.
