Denny thought it would interesting to take the ferry to Cebu.  It's a 21 hour overnight journey from Manila.  The kids wanted to try it, so Olive, the least seaworthy member of the family, reluctantly agreed.  No great adventure, but very relaxing.  A good way to ease into a vacation.

The air-conditioned first class rooms were clean and comfortable.  Our room had a double bed, a bunk bed for the kids, TV and a private bath.

At night, the cafeteria was turned into a disco.  The band played in front of a stage made out of half of a 51 Chevy.  That was the car Denny's family had in his youth.  As he experienced the trip though Maya's eyes, he found himself remembering a family vacation some 40 years ago when they took a ferry to Orcas Island in the San Juan Islands.
