~ Florida ~
From Texas, we did our best to drive in the evening (when the kids were asleep) and made it to Destin/Navarre Beach, Florida with only one stop overnight in New Orleans. The ultimate destination was Disneyworld, but we were excited to investigate the beautiful beaches of Florida we had always heard so much about. At the time, I was a meeting coordinator for a large oil company, so I was able to procure some exceptional room rates (because I was checking out the hotel for possible meetings!)
The hotel where we stayed served continuous drinks on the beach. I rented an umbrella, took my book and drank, read and napped ~ all day long! We stopped for lunches, took the kids down for naps and truly enjoyed the beautiful white sandy beaches. The girls built some fantastic sandcastles, however (at that age) they preferred the swimming pool ~ go figure! (guess it was the gritty sand in their swimsuits!) As you can see, the water was very green (hence the name "Emerald Beach") and clear, the skies a gorgeous blue. After a few days in Destin, our journey took us to DisneyWorld. Back to Snuggems' Cove
