Cape Forchu Lighthouse, July, 1998
The original lighthouse at Cape Forchu (Forked Cape), near the Port of Yarmouth, was built in 1839. It was replaced in 1962 by one of the most interesting concrete towers in the country. The original fresnel lens sits in the Yarmouth Museum.
I made two visits to this lighthouse in July, 1998, both on the same day. On my first trip, the lighthouse was shrouded in fog. Normally that makes for interesting photography of lighthouses, but on that occasion, it was almost impossible to see it. I returned a few hours later, after the fog had relented somewhat and finished photographing the lighthouse.
