Seal Island Lighthouse Museum

Barrington, Nova Scotia

Seal Island Lighthouse Museum

Seal Island Lighthouse Museum, July, 1998

The Seal Island Lighthouse Museum in Barrington is not and never was an actual lighthouse.  The one half life size replica of the Seal Island Lighthouse was built in 1985 to serve as a museum.  When the actual Seal Island Lighthouse lantern was replaced by a more modern beacon in 1979, it was donated to the Municipality of Barrington, and today resides in the museum.

The actual lighthouse is on Seal Island about 20 miles of the coast from Clark's Harbour.  It was built in 1831 and automated in 1979.
