Medway Head Lighthouse, July, 1998
The original Medway Head Lighthouse was built in 1851. The current structure was erected in 1961. It was de-staffed in 1989.
This lighthouse is a fun one to visit. I visited it in the summer of 1998 on one of my early morning outings. The rocks near the lighthouse provided great climbing and alternate views of the structure. As a matter of fact, the area is often referred to as the Peggy's Cove of Queen's County because of the rocks.
To get to the lighthouse, take the Long Cove Road from Port Medway for about a couple of kilometers.
