Balache Point Lighthouse, August, 1998
The Balache Point Lighthouse is an interesting one. I sits on top of a small hill on the Cape Breton side of the Canso Causeway, and next to the Canso Canal. And this is another relatively new lighthouse, built in 1963.
I visited this lighthouse on one of my early morning outings during our summer, 1998 vacation. As a matter of fact, it was on the vary last day of the vacation. I needed to take in as many lighthouses as possible before our evening flight home to Vancouver, so I visited this one very early in the morning.
To access the lighthouse from Port Hastings, take a right turn just before the bridge on the way to the causeway. There is some parking near the lighthouse.
