Kye's Carrion Fields Home Page

Medieval times and medieval fantasy have fascinated me from an early age. Perhaps this is why I enjoy roleplaying games which involve medieval/fantasy settings. My favorite, by far, was Carrion Fields, a player-killing DikuMUD with heavy emphasis on roleplaying. Some people called it my home away from home. The land itself is called Thera, and there are many areas in Thera to explore.

I have played since just a little after the "purge", so am a relative newcomer to the game. Indeed, when I first began playing, the Implementors were working on the bard songs and testing them. Shortly thereafter, Taliesen and the other bards began to show up in Thera. They were a wimpy bunch, and players either made fun of them or took advantage and killed them. Times haven't much changed, and the bards of Thera still find their lives often taken for no better reason than that they're easy kills. Another reason bards have been targeted is that they have the ability to post notes to "All" (only the Immortals can do the same) and they post such notes with songs, poetry, and the occasional prosaic diatribe. Some people just hate that, especially the evil ones. (Indeed, many of the evil ones have complained that there are good bards and there are neutral bards, but there are no evil bards. Only one bard, a neutral/neutral half-elf who focused her need for balance on the global scale instead of the personal scale, emphasized her life and songs/poetry with the dark side. Only rarely, if ever, did she sing of a person who walked in the Light.)
