Strategy vs. Tactics
As it pertains to
MOHAA
Some basic
definitions
Strategy is the
concept you are going to use to win a battle. “We are
going to defend, causing the enemy to expose themselves
to emplaced weaponry” or “We are going to aggressively
attack using superior numbers to overwhelm the enemy
positions” or “We will attack and withdraw luring the
enemy into ambush
positions”
Tactics is the
means by which you are going to implement the strategic
concept. “Team alpha will sweep eastward clearing out
enemy positions, while team bravo will lay down covering
suppressive fire on possible enemy firing
positions.”
Strategy is the concept given by the
supreme commander to subordinate leaders. The
subordinate leaders then utilize Operations Orders, Frag
Orders (Frag-O), and SOP to employ the tactics governed
by the situation and terrain.
