The Ancient Days of Dwarves
Colophon and Introduction.

COLOPHON

Herein lay tales retold of ancient times by Tekerahk Sul, purlan elder. Tales such as these, recounted for centuries upon centuries by the likes and elders of Tekerahk Sul, speak the lore of days when dwarves did thrive. A populous once strong and many, now haggard by war and strife and misfortune. It is afeared the dwarves are a dying people, whose presence in this world may soon be gone and, with them, their wonder-filled chronicle. This lore has endured the ages by way of simple retelling; the elders to the youthful, and the youthful to the children, generation after generation. When, and if, the dwarves do pass from the world, their chronicle may be lost forevermore. Thus I shall record as best I can the tales of dwarves in days gone by as told by Tekerahk Sul, purlan elder.

TEKERAHK SUL

I, Tekerahk, having been born of parents strong into the honoured Khlan Sul, the Longfires of Purla, and having been learned in all the teachings of my Elders, and having been witness to the many afflictions of my people in the course of my days, nevertheless, having been highly fortunate of the sufferings in all those, my days, aye, having had a great knowledge of the goodness and mysteries and fortitude of our people, therefore I have become learned of the proceedings of my people. And I know that the chronicle I have is true, and I have it according to my knowledge, on the honour of my Khlan.
