This is a page I created just because I have nothing better to do. I'm
in a really boring class right now, and I've finished the assingment, so
I have a half hour to do nothing with. I decided to create a page about
nothing, here it is, and here you are :)
If you've been to Schloglor's or Shaff's page, you've probably read
their history, I don't want to be copying, but this might end up to be
something like that :)
The beginning
The first gaming system I got was the Nintendo, I was the last guy to
get one on my block. Back then it Mario Brothers was so cool. Never did
beat it... The first game I boght for that was Final Fantasy, I thought
it had a cool name. Little did I know how much that would change my
life. I spent all the time playing that game. I beat it like seven
times. It was the first game I really liked.
I was not going to be the last guy to get this, in fact I was the first!
First thing I got for it was Final Fantasy II, still have that game...
It was just as cool as the first. No one saw me for a week...
On one of our anual visits to my cousins, I saw a computer. I thought
it was pretty cool. They asked if I wanted it, they had a better one
downstairs. My dad said sure. So I got my first computer. A 286/33...
It was free though:) I bought all of the AD&D games I could find for
that thing. Then I played them for a month, got stuck, and paid more
money for a hint book. Every one of those I needed a hint book to beat.
Never was very good at them, it was fun though...
After about two years we got a second computer, paid for this one
though (or at least my dad did:)) Can't remember much of anything, until
I saw WarcraftI at the store.
WarcraftI
When I first saw WarI at the store I thought, jeez, that looks dumb...
Little did I know... :) After about a month, I got a demo of it in
CD-Rom Today. The very next day after I got the demo I went out and
bought WarI. I didn't know anyone else who had the game. All my
freinds still had Macs (idiots, they sould have known, they all have
IBMs now (exept one...)), and the game wasn't out for the Mac yet. But
it wouldn't have mattered... I didn't have a modem, I hadn't even heard
of the internet (little did I know...). I played the orcs first 'cause
they looked cooler.
Class will end in five minutes, maybe I'll finish this at home...
I'm at home now - time to continue
I played the orcs first, they looked cooler. But I never did finish the
orcish campaign, I started to play the humans because the healing
looked so much better than the peice of _____ skeletons the orcs got:)
The archers and I rocked all. Even the spearmen couldn't touch my
archers, the range of the spearmen were one space less. I'd get my
20-30 archers in a big row, and just sit there until the orcs ran out
of money. The only problem is you couldn't build a second town hall,
so there was a lot of long distance mining, and the godforsaken roads
kept getting in the way of expansion. I do remember the first time I
played I forgot what the mission objectives were on the first mission
and I had built barracks going from on side of the map to the other
wondering what to do... Until I decided to get more peasants, but
there wasn't enough food so I built a farm, and lo' and behold, I won!
Warcraft 2
Well, one boring Saturday day my dad wakes me up. He tells me we're
going to buy another computer, I have no objections :) The computer
we bought is the one I'm using now, a 75 Mhz pentium with 1 gig of
memory, and a very fast modem (at the time)a 14.4. Anyway, after my
dad set up the modem, I got my first exposure to the net. That was
about a year ago (look how far I've come... :)) I remembered seeing
the address www.blizzard.com in a magizine somewhere, so I typed it in.
It took me to Blizzard's homepage, which by now I have become very
familiar with. As I was glancing up and down the page, I noticed
some dark text that said Warcraft2 Approching! My first thought was
Warcraft2?? And the second was what in the world the darkened text
was for. I just crossed my fingers and clicked. After that I was
eagarly awating the time when I would see it at Best Buy. I didn't
get it until Christmas though... About a week after it was released.
I played the humans first this time, remembering how bad the orcs
were in War1. I spent all of Christmas vacation playing, and I had
beaten the human campaign before school started again. It took me
longer to play through the orcish campaign (about three weeks) because
I had to go to school:( Then I started making single player maps (oh
how little I knew back then:)) In February sometime I got some E-mail
from some guy named Jeff. He had E-mailed everyone in Fargo and asked
if anyone had War2, and wanted to play him multi-player. Well, I couldn't
reply fast enough. About a week later we got a game set up. It was A
Continent to Explore, and I won with my army of dragons (still can't
beleive I used to like them...). The second time we played was the
next day, and it was Noway out of this Maze, once again, I won. I
couldn't believe it! Haven't talked to him since...
First regular Multi-play
Of course ever since I got War2 I was telling all my friends how cool
it was. At the beginning Matt and I weren't all that great of friends,
but War2 brought us together :) I found out he had it, and offered a
game. He was like, well, I'm pretty god, but if you want to ok. I was
so exited. I beat him soooo bad! All I remember about that game was
that I won by so much it wasn't even funny. We played three or four
more games, and beat him just as bad every time! His friend, Joe, was
over at his house, and I played Joe. He lost worse! Another one of
Matt's freinds, Cliff, played me a little while later. Again, I won.
I was starting to get rather egotistical. Then someone in Maimi asked
for a game (can't remember how I got in contact with him...). I asked
my dad and he said fine. I played a three hour long-distance game. And
I lost. Not by much, but nevertheless. That defeat took down my ego
to an exeptible level. But to date he has been to only one to beat me,
and I have played many at my school (one day some kid I'd never seen
before walked up to me and said, "You're the God of War2, aren't you?"
I told him that he was missing an 'o' (figure that one out!:))
Now that I'm on Kali I'm looking forward to getting killed. Can't
learn anything if you always win!
Hmmm... guess this did turn out to be a history thing... Oh well...
I'll try to add more to this, but right now, I want to try this new
demo I just got on Boot (Cd-Rom Today split into two magazines, the one
for the IBM is called Boot)
