Some great ideas: Getting sick of those people who think that tank rushing is the only tactic? Me too. The funny thing is... it's easily defeated! There are many ways to slow or even stop a tank rush. The key is to deprive your oppponent of resources early in the game. And DON'T let up or give your opponent time to recover completely.
How?
Allies: Build a squad of "Ore Truck Bashers" consisting of about 8-12 Light Tanks. Light Tanks are better for this job because they're just so darn fast! Constantly harrass and destroy the enemy ore trucks using quick strikes... get in, strike, get out. Simple. Keep them all in the same group. 8 Light Tanks will make quick work of an ore truck. Even if your opponent manages to bring his ore truck back in before it gets killed, he'll either: a)repair it(which costs valuable resources) or b) send it back out(which makes for a slower, weaker, and even easier target).
Is there a usable amount of water on the map? Build at least 2 naval yards early on. Get the tech center up and running quickly also and build 2 cruisers, and about 4 destroyers. Now build a transport. Group all these units together and put them into formation ('F' key). Now, whenever you move the entire group, the cruisers and destroyer will move at the same rate as the transport, allowing for devastating offensive power from your armada of ships. You may want to put a Tanya or two into the transport also, for added destruction. Unless your opponent has a TON of subs his base is going to get trashed very quickly. The Destroyers are also able to attack at a healthy distance, just watch out for those pesky subs. Destroyers are excellent escorts... the more you have, the safer your cruisers are.
What if there's no water? Use a combination of about 2 Medium Tanks for every Light Tank. Build a lot of tanks, but DO NOT rush. Use small quick strikes against vital targets. Send the Light Tanks directly to the target to destroy it, but let the Medium Tanks hang back to offer protection from enemy units. Also a good idea: include several Rocket Infantry to give any air opposition a really bad day; if there are no enemy air units, sick them on teslas or the main target... they do a surprising amount of damage when in groups. Always keep adequate base defense consisting of clusters of 2 turrets and a camo pillbox at major choke points or entrances to your base. Build them in this pattern:
P
T T
p=camo pillbox, T=turret
Allied Tactic: I developed this after reading some books on wars U.S.A. was involved in.
Civil war: Build up your army of tanx in this ratio: 2 Light tanks for every medium tank. After you've got a decent army and it's pretty much
in the middle of the game, build a small force of about 10 light tanks.Group the huge force as "group 1" and the small force "group 2"(you'll be switching back and forth. Send group 1 at their base and group 2 close behind it. Your opponent usuall has some defense of tanx
turrets etc. have group 2 flank the enemy force from the side opposite the corner so they'll kinda get squished.Usually this confuses your enemy or distracts them. have group 2 disengage and kill all defenseive structures (if allies). If they are soviets kill all the power plants.
This has worked for my 75% of the time (after all, no strategy is fullproof) Tactic from Cloud Strife at tuxknight@tmisnet.com.
New tactic: in skirmish mode ally with the com and send 2 tanks into its base. force fire on thier cons yard until red then send chinook with 5 engineers into base unload, break aliance, rush them in ,and re-ally.whenits the other guy(sov, allys) you get thier buildings . build them in your base and then break the alliance. works pretty good for me Tactic from Judith Triplett at jtriplet@concentric.net
Chinook Tanya in!: Strictly a Soviet Tactic...just use a Chinok and GO AROUND any SAM/AA Guns and land in an open area NEAR the base...hopefully there are no Telsa's! :) Use Tanya to distract, or use your tanks to distract! :) Tactic from John at johncon@cam.org.
Is the power out?: If you want to Airlift Tanya into the enemy base...but Telsa's are blasting away, you should send a nuke at his/her power plants and then send Paratroopers to "CHECK" if the Telsa's are still armed! :) Tactic from John at johncon@cam.org.
The more the better: Ever wonder how people have so many tanks before you do? Well, the more War Factories you have, the faster the tanks come out. If you like like 10,000 dollars and you are building ONE tank every 5 minutes...forget it. :) Build at least 2 War Factories (three is nice if you have enough money). Then you can pump out tanks like mad! Same goes for Naval Yards and Sub Pens. Tactic from Justin Lee (webmaster) at jlee06@cam.org.
Instant Tanya in enemy base (Allied tactic): Chronoshifting an MCV is easy if you prepare in advance! :) Build a Barracks, and keep it on Ready...then build Tanya and STOP it (pause it by right clicking) right before it is complete. Chronoshift your MCV into the enemy base, put the READY Barracks next to it...then CONTINUE the Tanya...then when she's ready, build ANOTHER one while you are having fun blowing up buildings! :) Tactic from Withheld at Address Withheld.
Hahahha...mines in your base!: This one is mean...first find out which Warfactory your enemy is using (where the tanks come out of). Then use the Chrnoshift to send a Mine Layer infront of the War factory, then put all the mines you have (all 5 of them!) around the War Factory..hopefully thye person won't notice and when BRAND new tanks come out...BOOM!!!! Tactic from Justin Lee (Webmaster) at jlee06@cam.org.
Bye bye Radar!: If you are Allies, build a Chrnoshift and a Radar Jammer. Then when your Chrnoshift is ready, send the Radar Jammer RIGHT next to the Radar dome (right under is fine). This will cause your enemy's radar screen to blank out for a few minutes! (great for an attack!). Tactic from DBest2222 at DBest2222@aol.com.
