From the notes of Lavrup Green-Tongued, submitted to Borrum Binbalik for his work "On the Bearers of Akasha"
In northwest Barsaive, there is a legend concerning a sky raider who appears immediately before a battle, fights with the side showing just cause, and who disappears right after. Although the stories vary, the same Name is attached to each of these instances - Brutus. The troll has appeared as far south as Lake Vors and as far east as the village of Tureem.
An intesive study of the copious stories received by myself and the Library of Throal afford us these facts - The troll stands roughly 8'2", with an impressive build, even for one of his race. He wields a halberd, with numerous notches where he records his kills. On Brutus' chest is a massive tatoo of an hourglass with all the sand in the bottom. Above the tatoo were the words "What you reap..." and below, "...is what you sow". Brutus appears minutes before a skermism, and speaks to no one until the fight breaks out. He then makes contact with one of the concerned parties and offers his assistance. In every instance, two things stand out - the side Brutus takes always wins and according to the majority of the witnesses, that side had the just cause in the fray. After each battle, the winning side almost always offers Brutus some form of reward which he turns down without a pause. Most of the reports state this reply is "Can't. I have stuff to do", or some variant thereof.
The origins of Brutus remain a mystery, though. Because the major mountain range in the area is the Scol Mts., there has been speculation that Brutus was a member of the Firescales moot. However, no Firescales will acknowledge this. Various local myths concern a blood oath against the Firescales by Brutus over a dispute whose origins have been attributed to a broken marriage vow, anger over the Firescales alliance with Iopos, and a lost claim to some position of high power. None of these claims have ever been substantiated by hard evidence.
As one can imagine, finding Brutus proved a difficult task indeed.
Utilizing my trollish intuition and my superior scholarly training, I
was able to do so. The interview, and the events surrounding it, are
recorded below.
