Adventures in the Yin-Sloth Jungles

The following adventures are the adventures directly out of the Yin-Sloth Jungles Book, do not read these adventures if your G.M. intends on doing these Mini-Adventures.  The Yin-Sloth Adventures were written by Palladium Books (TM)

Mini Adventure #1

State of the Group

Our Palladium group, after the tournament, consists of Rand Al'Thor, Sir Garland, a paranoid Lancelot, and a hole-filled Rashidi.  On their travels to Southern Cross they have been sidetracked and now they go in search for the ancient Dragon Relic deep with-in the Yin-Sloth Jungles, and hope to claim it for there own church, the Church of Light.

The Mission

Well, along the way, we met up with an army, helped em out a little bit and even saved a man called Sir Derek, and were taken back to their city, within the city we were hired by a man by the name of Mardoc to recover two items from the tombs outside the city, about a 3 hour journey.  He claimed the tombs were owned by his family, and even produced a deed to the tombs, which none of us couldn't say was authentic.   Also he promises to pay well :)  He gave us each 200 gps. now, and promises us 8000 each, when we return with the 2 items he wants.

The two items are:

1. A Scepter of Dragon's Bone

2. A book entitled: The Chronicle of Tri-Ellak

Well, I distinctly remembered asking him why he just didn't go get the items himself.  He said he was too old and so-forth so then I asked him if he thought we'd be in any danger.  And I could of sworn he said it would just be an in and out type of trip, nothing to worry about.

Of course, playing our characters we believed him, (You'd think we'd have learned by now to stay away from tombs and dungeons :)), so we blew two days in town and then headed out to the tombs, lead by an elderly man, Kittrick,  who's relationship with Mardoc is still unknown to us.

Well, the tombs we soon learned were within a cave in the side of cliff.  Kittrick, our guide, decided he'd stay down below, set up camp, and wait for us.  So we traveled up a path alongside the cliff to get to the cave.  We were greeted with a rusted out doorway, that was left unlocked.  We traveled into the cave, to get the job done.  We walked a bit until reaching another doorway.  This doorway, however, had rocks down by the door that had to be moved for entry, and low and behold we find a scroll within the rocks, warning us of our impending doom should we choose to travel farther.  So, we traveled onward :), we passed a few "mystic symbols" that had no effect on us and were brought to a main chamber.  The chamber had 3 statues, one of a fighter, a evil cleric, and an evil man of magic. From the left (south) going around it showed a giant human wearing plate mail and armed with a huge sword. The statue to the west was a man dressed in clerical robes. to the north was a man dressed in robes, and was obviously identifiable as a man of magic. The south wall is painted in a mural of the giant human (portrayed by the statue to the south) single handedly fighting an inhumane horde. The west wall is painted in a huge mural of men fighting a large battle. The north wall was painted in a mural of  the evil cleric (portrayed by the statue to the north) commanding twisted demonic figures.

The Tombs

Our group now had some questions for our "friend" Mardoc, but it was too late to turn back now.  We started out going left, through the south wing of the tombs.  This wing, we concluded belongs to the fighter (maybe because there was statues of him all over the place :))  Well, our first encounter was a couple of mummies.  They were easily dispatched of, and even greater, one of them was holder the scepter we came in search for.  That was way to easy, now we needed the book.  Well we traveled on and came upon the sarcophagus, we carefully lifted off the top, to discover that this was the burial place of the fighter.  His decayed body and sword were covered in a green gooey substance, that none of us felt like touching (Bad past experiences).  So we left him in peace.  Well after searching his room, we happened upon a secret passage, which led to a treasure room of sorts.  Within the treasure room we found a couple of vampires, which were easily dispatched of and burned.  (We were feeling all high and mighty :))  Within the room, we found some wooden stakes and a mallet, 9000 gps, and a flame sword.  We only took the wooden stakes and mallet, and ventured forth.  We killed vampires right and left.  They were just no match for us.  (That's right we're good and they're evil, we da men :))

We finished off the south wing, and went for the west wing next.  We went around still killing a few vampires here and there.  Then we came upon something that bugged me.  A vampire (assumed) was lying in a bed with a stake driven through his heart already, and a note lay beside him.  The note read, "Unable to live with the evil I have become I have been forced to take my own life, Baldor." That was all.   It made one think of the torture that these poor beings must be going through being locked down here for what: hundreds, thousands, millions of years.  Later on we came upon a psycho vampire, that had just gone utterly insane and attacked us without a thought.  Well, he died just like the rest, but now I wasn't feeling like the great do-gooder I once was.

The next room of interest that we came upon was a room, that when we walked on the stone floor, it almost seemed weak, and the room was hot also.  Well, it doesn't take a genius to figure out what it was, and our suspicions were soon confirmed when we broke the floor with a bed (don't ask :)), to find lava flowing about 600 ft below us.  We left that room real quick :)

The next room we came upon, everything was literally upside-down.  The bed, and chairs and such were on the ceiling, and there was a person sleeping in the bed.  Well, it was a vampire, and we killed her.  Now we were really starting to wonder, we left that room without to much inspection either.

The Pit

Well, we journied forth through various rooms until we came upon room with a hole in the floor, and an alter beside it (Sacrificial Chamber?) And we were lucky enough to find a secret passageway through the alter.  We all followed the passage way down, until we came to another room, (a couple levels lower I'm guessing)  This room contained a statue and a crypt, which we carefully opened.  Well we got it open, and there was a pit of some sort within the it.  Suddenly the stone slab drops down in front of the only door in the room, and molten lava poured out of the statues mouth, I was the first to dive into the sarcophagus and was soon followed by my comrades, last of whom closed the lid again.  The ground we landed on (Not much of a drop) was covered in snakes.  Well, Lance (me) had some fun a whipped em against the walls with telekinesis while Sir Garland chopped off there heads.  Luckily none of us were bit.

The room, had 3 doorways, all "protected" by stone statues (that were determined enchanted) of 2 giant cobras.  We went through the left door first and as expected the giant statues came alive, but before they could do much they were destroyed.  We entered the room and found 3 sacks on top of a rug.  The sacks held nothing to the untrained eye, but for those who can see the invisible they held 1,500 gps., a red crystal, and one other thing (sorry).  The rug, after the wonderful use of sense magic, and object read, we figured out was a flying rug.  Soon, the powers of its flying ability were mastered.  Sir Garland, Rand, and Lance each took one of the sacks, and then we all proceeded to search the room as usual.  During the search, we heard a massive amounts of noise in the main room, the ceiling had caved in but luckily the lava flow had seemed to stop, and our doorway hadn't been blocked.  We decided to move on :), with the help of our new founded flying carpet we went over the cooling lava, into the next room, only to find that it held the remains of the evil cleric Zargosh. Sooner or later we left.

A Most Gracious Encounter

We continued going through various rooms, until we got to a room with 4 stone gargoyles.  They came alive and attacked us, and we ended up winning the battle with minimum damage taken.  Into the room (after the battle) walked a vampire, and he, in a most generous voice, asked us if we'd come talk to him for awhile.  He assured us he'd do no harm to us.  We followed and he poured glasses of wine for each of us, and he drank a glass of blood.  After he finished his blood, he offered us a deal.  He'd be our guide through the rest of the tombs, if we helped him get past the wards.  (Remember those wards I mentioned the we passed when we came in)  He seemed, in my opinion, like the nicest guy, and I really felt sorry for him, having to be locked down here in the tombs, doing nothing, and living in constant misery.  Well, Sir Garland knocked some sense into me, because of the fact, that if we let this one poor tortured soul out of the tombs, that 100's maybe 1000's of other innocent people would suffer, because of the known fact that vampires must drink blood.  Sure, he could get donations and such, but there would be no way of telling what he would do.  In the end, we told him we couldn't help him out, (poor guy) so asked us nicely if we would leave.  We left, except Sir Garland went back into the room to offer the vampire a wooden stake.  (Note: We do not endorse suicide :), suicide is normally a permanent solution to a temporary problem, but in the case the wooden stake suicide would be temporary solution to a permanent problem :)).

The Circle, the Book, and the Gladiator

Well, we left him, and ventured onward, soon we were down to one room in which the book might be located.  We went into and it was a library, we were very happy, after all this would have to have the book.  Across the room lay the book!, and without thinking one of us went to it.  Only to realize all to late a huge circle in the room that covered the floor.  Well, the guy disappeared, and we all had to follow, after all, he is our comrade.  We appeared with-in a giant gladiatorial arena, a giant Magot stood with-in.  Lance casted Carpet of Adhesion on the Magot and got him stuck for the next 40 melees.  Then Sir Garland used Deathkiss the Demon Sword, and the Magot fall victim to it's pleasure, so the Magot lost the rest of his attacks.  Then it was just your usual hitting the Magot until it was dead.  We decided we didn't like other dimensions very much so we went back through the circle and appeared on the other side of it.  Well we grabbed the Magic book and left.  We got out of the tombs and found Kittrick waiting for us.  He treated us to some nice soup and we stayed the night camped there.  The following morning we headed back to the city, and gave Mardoc his possessions.  Now don't think we're not going to keep an eye on him, after all, why would he want stuff from a place of evil...

Trouble in the City

We arrived in the city only to find soldiers patrolling the streets, something wasn't right.  We asked around about it, and learned very little, only that there had been some sort of attacked on the city.  We later found Sir Derek (remember the guy we saved way at the beginning) and he explained that people would be attacked at night, and the bodies stolen away.  He asked us if we'd help track down these guys.  We were guessing maybe vampires, and we agreed to help him.  Well nothing of to much importance happened in the next 3 days, besides Sir Garland got half plate and traded away his full plate.  The fourth night, however, we came upon a scream in a house and ran to investigate.  We found a couple of boogie men on the first floor, and one upstairs.  We killed 2 of em, and soaked the 3rd for info.  Being the little cowards that they are, he led us straight to a house which he claimed he worked for.  When we knocked we heard two men get up and they answered the door, and we asked them about it.  Rand used empathy (I think) and determined that every word the two humans said was a lye.  So we got them, after a quick search of the place we found a trap door beneath the throw mat.  Sir Derek stayed up with the two humans, and we took the boogie man down with us.  The strange thing is, is that there were no stairs down the trap door, just a 20 ft drop.  We used our flying carpet to get down easily.  We first came upon an ogre and 2 goblins, well we just tied them all up and gagged them, along with the boogie man.  In the next room we found 2 sleeping orcs, we tied and gagged them also.  We soon guessed that we were dealing with a death cult here, and we were sure Mardoc was a part of it, because the book that we got for him had to do with death cults and the sort.  Sooner or later we found a kitchen which held a whole bunch of chained up human females.  We found out the following from them:  That the "cult" (can't be sure it's a cult, but that's what I'll refer to it as) members were having a meeting right now, and that we should leave right away, before we are discovered for the meeting would end soon.

Rand used Astral Projection and surveyed the underground lair for us, and discovered that the large meeting room held 600? zombies (explains dead bodies), 1 summoner within the center of the room inside a large protection circle, and 30 other men including Mardoc.  He came back and reported this to us, and we went to one of the doors, and determined that if we could kill the summoner, all the zombies would fall.  Then we did the stupidest things of our lives.  We charged in on our flying carpet, with fleet feet, and armour of Ithan on us, and started the battle.  A 4 on 630.  We took out the summoner before anything could be done on the enemy side, along with the summoner dropped 600 zombies :).  Sir Garland fired arrows at the 29 men, Rand casted Fire Wall on them, Rashidi breathed fire on them, and Lance in his fool-hearted way flew (ring of fly as eagle) over in the mists of all the chaos and hacked down some of the guys.  The enemy never stood a chance, we ended up kicking there butt, taking minimal damage (if any).  Hmm, I wonder if our group is too strong? :)  Well after gaining ludicrous amounts of exp. and bringing our guys up to their current level we met up with Sir Derek again, he brought 5 soldiers with him to help us, but he was a bit late :)  Lance has now become the controller of a rune dagger, and Rand now has a rune staff.  We headed out of the underground lair victorious, and we took a long, long rest the next day until a young man came to us.  He'd heard what we had done for this city and was wondering if we help his city as well.

Mini Adventure #2

The Woodcutter and Deltor (Shaldon's) Keep

We accepted the guys plead and headed off for his city, with nothing more than a description of "very unusual behavior from the majority of the town", so we had no idea what was coming.  After half a days journey we arrived at the outside of the city.   Where we found a "woodcutter"  trapped inside a well, after helping him out he turned around and handed us each a miniature statue that looked exactly like us, we tried to ask him what the heck was going on, but before we could he disappeared.  (Weird, we later found out that the statues give us +4 vs. Insanity)

To enter the city, the guards wouldn't let us keep any weapons larger then a short sword.  We were all upset and tried to explain to them our good intentions, but they would not sway.  (Sure we could have turned invisible, and whatever else, but....)  So now Sir Garland has a silver dagger, Rand has a silver dagger, Rashidi has his a rune daggers, and Lance has 4 daggers, and a mace.   We entered the city, and looked around a bit.  Deltor Keep was in very poor condition, and it was mostly a farming community.  After trying several places for information with little luck, we decided to check out the keep, We entered the open gate house, to find several dead soldiers, and one man playing poker with a dead soldier.  He offered to let us join the game, we said yes, so he dealt us in, and he dealt in the dead guy as well.  He was obviously insane.  He then accused one of us of cheating, and then tried to kill us, well, we just killed him, he couldn't be saved anyway.

Upon entering the main hall we were greeted by the smell of decaying flesh, the room was well decorated with tapestries and such, and in the center of the room was a man covered up to his waste in cement. when we woke him he introduced himself as Michael Shaldon and explained that a wizard (whom was at his feet decapitated) had immobilized him magically and while he was immobilized cemented him in, then when the spell had wore off he killed the wizard, and now it had been 5 days since he had anything to eat or drink. So we used a metal pole which we increased it's weight magically and used it to free him from the concrete.

After giving him food and drink and leaving him there we continued on to the next room which had quite an array of bodies in it, all dead. And soon enough we met the killer, a woman (later identified as Isabella Shaldon) and Rand quickly paralyzed her and we tied her up and moved on.

The Dungeon and Multiple Timothy's

We found a stairway that descended and took it down to what appeared to be a dungeon, we found a piece of paper in front of the door with a drawing of someone and it said: "This is Timothy Shaldon, the dread Eviscerator. No matter how lucid, do not release this man from the dungeons. This is both for your safety and that of everyone else." So with that in mind we headed into the dungeon, and upon entering we found that two of the guards had locked themselves in the second jail cell, and in trying to find out what was going on we asked the guards why they were in there, well one guard just screamed every time someone talked and the second guard wasn't much help either. Almost at the end of the hallway was a man that met the description of Timothy Shaldon, however it was impossible to talk to him as he was 100% pure insane. At the end of the hallway was another cell with a person that looked like Timothy Shaldon!, and he was torturing another person that looked like Timothy Shaldon! (from here on I will be identifying the timothy's by giving them a name such as Timothy the ....... just for the sake of keeping this followable) The interrogator Timothy the Torturer was torturing Timothy the Insane and asking him questions and getting very angry at the responses he was getting from Timothy the Insane as he has the insanity compulsive liar, so he was getting nowhere.  After talking with Timothy the torturer, we left them alone and doubled back to a door we had seen earlier. This room contained a chair with leather straps, in which Timothy the Minstrel Killer is sitting screaming at the top of his lungs, and Timothy the Wetter, is in the corner wetting himself all the while a gong is being sounded, and upon going to investigate we found Timothy the Tormentor banging on it to torment his fellow dungeon mates.  We paralyzed him to stop him and moved on. Going down the hallway a throwing axe came flying by our heads as Timothy the Jester emerges from a room to retrieve it inviting us to come and join "a really fun game" so being nice we follow him to find Timothy the Target tied to a table laying on it's side while Timothy the Jester throws knives and throwing axes at him. After seeing that we went on to find a room that was pitch black, had a dirt floor and had a man (Timothy the Normal) buried up to his neck in dirt, screaming hysterically, It turns out Timothy the Tormentor had put him in there the night before, so we dug him out and went on our way. The next room we came upon we had to force our way in and when we got in we were surprised to see Timothy the Tormentor in there playing the violin to torment two of the Timothys. When we entered he stopped playing the violin and motioned to a pit in the middle of the room, he introduced us to Xavier Shaldon who was at the bottom of the pit impaled by spikes, then bursted out into and evil laugh, dropped to the floor laughing and accidentally rolled into the pit killing himself....

Going to the only place we had left, we were surprised to see a normal (half way at least) acting person, Timothy the Doctor who was sitting at a table with Timothy the Depraved (who was heavily sedated) invites us to join him, which we do and he escorts us to a room and we are let in by Alfred, a zombie who was the former manservant to the Shaldon household, and then Timothy the Doctor sends Alfred off to get (the real) Timothy Shaldon.

Upon returning with (the real) Timothy Shaldon we are told about what happened about when Timothy was moved here with his family and put in this dungeon this madstone cured him of all his insanities! and having nobody around a good wizard named Legwhix used a spell of legend called clone to make companions for him, but the madstone turned them all insane. Legwhix tried to convince Timothy to destroy the madstone, but couldn't get him to because Legwhix was the only real friend he has. Well we convinced him to help us to destroy the madstone and he leads us to the room with it and we see the madstone, and a zombie in the room. We meet Legwhix and are about to destroy the madstone when the zombie turns into a dragon and attacks us!

(Next Update):  Well, we were doing fine on killing the Dragon, when Rand got a hold of the Madstone and whipped it to the ground.  The dragon disappeared.  We returned to the top floor of the keep, and were leaving when someone by the name of Bedevier Shaldon approached us, the king of this keep.  He said he couldn't remember anything from what happened from now to quite awhile ago.  We told him what we did and he thanked us profusely, and offered to let us come and stay with him whenever we want too, or if we need help, give him a call.  More importantly we realized that his insanities went away as did the ones that we gained throughout the adventure, with the destruction of the Madstone.  We were slightly pleased :)  Well, we left the keep and the town and got our weapons back from the town guards.

Mini Adventure #3

State of the Group

Well we walked for awhile, and decided it best if Lancelot part with the rest of the group to go in search of people who may once help out our isle.  Lancelot took the Flying Carpet as well as all of his stuff when he left.  Hugs and handshakes were given, yet they know they will all meet again someday at the Isle of the Southern Cross.  Well with the departure of Lancelot, the group now contains Sir Garland, Rand Al'Thor, and Rashidi.

The Woodcutter and the city of Cyclone

A minotaur by the name of Drog "The Destroyer" has been going around for last few weeks doing what he does best, mercenary jobs.  Just little odds and ends for various people, but he always gets his treasure, and hits his mark with deadly precision.  (A little history about Drog:  Before I kept records of our adventures, Drog was in our group, but left, he knows all the current members, and obviously they all know him, I'll try to see if I can get Dark Rider (Ash's little brother) to write up something about Drog to put up on the page).  Well anyway, Drog was traveling along, looking for work and a woodcutter wearing a red cloak approached him (Same woodcutter as in Adventure #2) and told him that it was his destiny to meet up with former comrades, and to go in search for the Fountain of Life.  The woodcutter gave Drog a ring to wear, and as Drog put it on he appeared in the city of Cyclone (within Yin-Sloth).

Meanwhile Rashidi, Rand, and Garland all left for a larger city known as Terellia, once there the woodcutter also appeared for them.  He told them that it was also their job to find to Fountain of Life, they were told that the Fountain of Life would be found within the wastelands of the Yin-Sloth.  Well they found a map of some sort and started heading towards the Wastelands.

Meanwhile a young priestess of the Church of Light, who goes by the name of Coren was wondering the land.  She stopped to stay in a hotel for the night which was generously paid for by the priest from that town.  During the night she had a dream.  In the dream, her god, Isis, told her that she must seek out the Fountain of Life, within the Yin-Sloth Wastelands.  She woke up the next morning, and headed over to the Church in which paid for her hotel room.  She asked the priest if he knew anything of the Fountain of Life.  She was disappointed to see him shake his head no, and she soon left to go south to the bordering city of the Yin-Sloth Jungles in hopes of finding answers.  A church of light was present in the town, and she started there.  She asked the priest there if he knew anything of the Fountain of Life, and said he no but he might know of someone who would.  The priest took them to a friend of his who offered little information as well, but he bid her good luck in her journies.  Next the priestess stopped off at the local "hospital" and did what she could for the sick when a man approached her.  He asked her to take a look at his brother.  She went to their house, and she found that she knew little of the disease that he had.  The sick brother told her that he had heard of a Fountain of Life that would cure his ailment, but he has yet to find it and has only been going on one clue:

"Through the portal of the dragon, climbing to the sky find the fountain that flows with water, containing the essence of Ippotomi"

She promised him that when she found the fountain she would come back for him, and she also blessed the sick brother to help him live to she returns.  She went and bought a map of Yin-Sloth, and guessed by the clue that she was to head to the Dragon Gate Mountains.  Unfortunately, she had only heard of the god Ippotomi, but knew nothing of the god.  She stayed at the church that night, and had yet another dream.  Isis (I presume) told her that she would meet companions along the way in which they will help her in her quest.  The next morning she left for the Dragon's Gate mountains and by nightfall had arrived in the city of Cyclone.

The Meeting

Drog arrived at the same time as Coren at the city of Cyclone.  Both, not having prior known each other, just regarded the other as just another traveler.  They both managed to find the same hotel in the city.  Coren decided that the price of 10 gd was too much and opted for camping outside under a tree for the night.  Drog on the other hand got the room for 10 gd. and went to find his room had only a cot in it.  He stormed on down to the inn keeper, and demanded his money back.  The inn keeper originally refused, but after rethinking the situation and quite a commotion from Drog, he gave back his money.  Drog ended up staying the night on a haystack.

The next day in come wandering Sir Garland, Rand, and Rashidi into the city of Cyclone.  They found a real nice inn, where they could stay for the night at 50 gp., so they each got their own room and left there stuff there.  They found their old buddy Drog around, and found that they had similar quests so they joined up together.  Well, they were looking around for someone who might know of the Fountain of Life, to help them in their quest.  They laid their eyes on Coren, and approached her hoping to get help (At least that's what they said... help... :))  They asked her about the fountain, and found that she too was in search of it.  Rand and Sir Garland gave bows, as they pledged themselves before the priestess.

Coren had now recognized these men, Isis had told her she would meet companions to help her (in the dream), so she welcomed them along, and they all met and chatted for awhile at the bar.  Well, we decided to leave the next morning for the Dragon's Gate Mountains.  Sir Garland, after finding out where Coren was staying, kindly offered to get her a room at the hotel, after she refused his charity in favor of the forest, he then said that he had purchased an extra room for his stuff anyway, and that she might as well sleep in it.  (He didn't actually, he had just the one)  Well, what was she to say, she accepted, and after he grabbed his stuff, she went to sleep in his room for the night.  Sir Garland meanwhile took off for the lobby and got another room at 50gp for himself.  What a nice guy...

Well morning rolled around, and everybody ate, cleaned up, and all that wonderful stuff, and started to head for Dragon's Gate.  After an unspecified amount of traveling we arrived at Dragon's Maw.  (Kinda shaky what all happened) but we ended up finding a mountain passage into an open area displaying some totems, and other goodies.  We ventured forth through caves now, until we saw 2 men of various monster races approach us through the caves.  We said hello to them and ventured forth.  Until we came to the end of the cave... Well Drog discovered a secret door...

The First Riddle

We went down some stairs and into a room.  A ghost approached us and told us something like what follows, "I am Mad Mestron.  You seek the Fountain of Youth, but first you must pass the first riddle."  With that he was gone.  In the room we found a stone golem with a silver amulet around it's neck, a stone Dias with a crystal on top of it emitting light, and the symbols of Life, Death, Earth, Air, Water, and Fire around the Dias.  Off a certain ways to the right was a little pond.  We discovered how to control the golem, by taking the amulet from it's neck and putting it around ours and commanding it, but we have found no use for the golem thus far.  We have tried everything in and out of the book to reveal the secret hiding place.  Rand finally decided that he'd astral project himself to have a look around, and he did find a passage way behind one of the brick / stone walls.  Unfortunately we didn't get to do anything farther as our RPG time was up for the night.

(Next update)  Well, having time to think on it the group finally figured out the first riddle by placing earth on earth symbol, water on the water, etc.  Sounds easy eh?  Well it's not as easy as you may think.  Well after all the symbols had their respective objects on them a small doorway slid open.

The room we entered had just a small bridge with the thickness of one foot stretching across a pit laden with spikes on the bottom.  Across the pit was a miniature fortress, that one could just step over, and continue on up the stairs, after a fairly easy crossing we headed on to the next chamber.  We were lead down a hall way and we had the choice of going left or right through doors.  We went through one of the ways and came into an old decaying bedroom.  Coren, interested a in harp sitting on top of a small table, strummed the strings of the harp and suddenly the mattress of the bed within the room turned into a scarecrow.   The scarecrow lasted but a few seconds.   Finding nothing else within this room we left and went through the other door, and it seems as though we entered a kitchen with a fire raging the fireplace the time.  We didn't have time to think as two Fire fairies leap out at us.  They perished after dealing small amounts of damage to some of the characters.  We also searched this room, and were lucky enough to stumble upon a secret passage behind a cabinet.  We went through.

We went up stairs to find (to our surprise) a jungle within the mountain.  The jungle was enclosed within the mountain and strange creatures stalked the earth that we had never seen before.  We figured we were getting close to the fountain of Life if life was being sustained here without any sunlight.  We walked along for a while admiring all the creatures of the woods when we came upon a small group of umm...creatures I guess.  A Cat bush with a red head, a man made out of bamboo, a 10 ft tall bush, a talking bamboo pile, and a walking tree.  We avoided any kind of confrontation that we could, and started talking to them, strangely enough they spoke Eastern tongue.  They thought we were crazy when we asked about the Fountain of Life, and told us to leave the woods.  We told em we wouldn't leave until we first looked around so they agreed to let us look around first.   Well, as we searched out through the jungle we came upon a dragons maw of sorts.   A large carving in the side (inside) of the mountain, with a cave leading into it's mouth.  Surrounding it was a spikes made of crystal of some sort, the spikes representing the dragons teeth.  A pathway lead up the middle into the maw which we followed.

We entered and on to the scene enter a Crystal Lion and a Crystal Dragon.  They however would not let us pass, and did a fare amount of damage to us before we were able to get by with our lives.  We entered another small room with a skeleton laying on top of a table, 3 chests off to the side, and a sword also within the room.  Mestron once again appeared for us basically letting us know that we passed his tests and that we may take anything within the room before traveling on.  Rand broke open the chests to find zounds of gold within them, he reached to start handing it out and was instantly teleported outside the entire mountain.  We decided it wasn't wise to take anymore gold, Rashidi grabbed the sword and we went onward.

Sir Henry

We went into the next room to be greeted  by the roaring of water as a maelstrom seemed to be going on.  Also w/ small sacks and potions and by the ghost of Sir Henry, a former knight.  He told us our next mission was to venture into the maelstrom to display our bravery.  We drank the vials of potion (Breathe without air, and Swim as a fish), put our stuff into the sacks that he provided and walked into the whirlpool.  We were sucked down into another room, where we met some Kreelok, whom were nice enough to guide us to a stair way out of the water.  We went through the stairway and came into another room.  Immediately 10 knights on horseback were charging us, but in all our glory, we were smart and decided they were just an illusion, and they passed harmlessly through us.  We ventured forth until we came to one massive maze.  The walls were 20 ft high, and the ceiling 50 ft high.  Sir Henry appeared before us telling us to watch out for the dragon who guards the maze.  We went for awhile, until we got sick of walking in circles, and we managed to make a human ladder of sorts, so Coren could see over the walls.  She saw the dragon perched above the exit in back, and also saw that there was no way out of the maze to get to the exit.  We would have to climb over one of the walls to get there.  After somewhat figuring out where we had to go we went upon our merry way until the dragon get scent of us, and swooped down to attack us.  We would have been toast, but luckily we were able to immobilize the dragon and hack it apart in a short time.  We climbed over the wall, and went through the doorway.  Sir Henry's dead body lay upon the floor clutching a sword with a magic armour and a shield nearby.  Sir Garland took the armour, and then we continued to through the next set of stairs.

Aronbach

We were greeted by the third guardian, Aronbach.  He appeared to us in a mirror as a priest.  He told us to take furs that were laying about on the ground and to enter the mirror, which we did.  Once through the mirror, we were immediately shivering as we entered into a huge ass blizzard, with snow at least thigh deep.   We see a light coming from the one of the largest buildings in the town and make out for it, upon entering we were nearly frozen, and people rushed to help us warm ourselves in front of the fire.  They were starving, and most of them had colds or other sickness's also, which they explained by saying that the snow storm hit the unexpectantly, while there food was still outside, open to the elements.  We offered them all we could to eat, which the graciously excepted, and then they asked us if we'd take supplies to a church, where they thought other survivors were.  We accepted, and trudged through the snow, and gail force winds to arrive at the church.  We went in to find a mother with a couple of her children freezing to death.  We lit a fire for them right away, and gave them some food.  The mother asked us if we'd go out and search for her husband who went out a little earlier, and of course we couldn't say no so....  trudging through the snow, with no tracks left to follow, we searched around for what seemed to be eons.  We started to turn back when we saw him, stiff as a board in the snow.  We ran over to him and went to take him back, and when we touched him we were teleported back to the caves.  Aronbach appeared before us and told us we passed his test, and wished us good luck.  We followed a little hallway to his chamber in which sat his skeleton, and a mace.  Coren took the mace, and discovered it was a holy mace, much to her liking.  We all went on down the stairs from that room......

Sestos

(Next Update): Upon reaching the the bottom of the stairs we were greeted by Sestos, the final guardian.  His tests were the tests of the mind.  Our first clue, "You will face a man, Kolous, as strong as the ground he walks upon, you will have defeat him to pass."  We started going down the various hallways until indeed we were met by this guy.  He came charging at us with flamberge in hand.  Kolous tried to hit Drog, but Drog parried.  Drog wailed on him with both axes doing no damage, then Sir Garland disarmed him, coren drew up her bow, and Rashidi hit him doing no damage.  Kolous hit Drog, but Drog countered by picking him up, and Sir Garland cleaved him in half.  (He wasn't on the ground!).  We continued on down the hallway.  Sestos had his voice come to us and told us to go the right way.  We interpreted it as literally going the right way.  So we just kept on going right at every corner, and ended up in the middle of this huge spiral.  In the middle there was a stairway leading up, and a sign "You're going the wrong way".  After a little debate, we turned back and followed the path all the way back, and a door appeared that wasn't there before.  Sestos congradualated us on passing that part of his test.

We went down the hall the hall, and saw 2 choices to go.  One which led straight to a fountain, and one that lead another way.  We thought it might be a trap but couldn't be positive so we literally played Rock-Paper-Scissors, to see who had to go to the fountain to see if it was real.  Rashidi lost, so he went, and fell into an endless pit.  We didn't know what happened to him, but obviously it was the wrong way so we went the other way :).

We went through the hallway, and went down a small slope in the ground, and got to a door.  We opened the door, and walked in.  A stone slab slammed shut over the door and the room started filling with water from a grate in the ground.  There was only a pile of garbage in the corner.  We took the pile of garbage and shoved it over the grate, and that in turn slowed the filling of the room.  We scrambled to find a way out of there before we all drown, but after ten minutes the water just got all sucked back into the grate and stone door slid open on the west wall.  Guess we did something right :)

We went through the door and were greeted by Sestos.  He said we have completed all the tests, and the water was ours.  We walked to our prize and a statue of Ippotomi started talking to us.  It told us that we may only take this vial of water with us (5 uses), and that we will never be able to return again.  The fountain was beautiful.  We all dove in, and drank some, and then took the vial and teleported outta the mountain.

We found Rashidi, I guess he had only been teleported out of the mountain, and we ventured back to town to give the dyeing man the water to restore him.  We got there in time and saved him.  We also found Rand milling around town.

So, a Paladin, Priestess of Light, Mind Mage, Mercanary, and Necromancer traveling with each other.  One would guess it doesn't work out all that well.  Before traveling on, please read this conversation between Drog and Sir Garland.

The stories of our travels are far from finished... Please continue reading with our next adventure: Avaxa's Gate.
