Time & Place
The Laredo Chess Club holds its weekly activity meeting on Wednesday from 6:00 - 8:00 pm in the "Quiet Room" of the Lamar Bruni Vergara Tech-Rec Center located at 202 W. Plum St. in central Laredo.
The facility is operated by the City of Laredo's Parks & Leisure Services Department (PARKS). Facility personnel includes Mrs. Anita Stanely, Recreation Centers Manager, and her staff. They can be reached at 794-1760. Click here to view a map.
Activities
Unless a specific activity is scheduled visitors may participate in a variety of activities of their choosing including:
- bughouse chess
- game study and analysis
- instruction
- practice games
- speed chess
Pre-requisites
- open invitation - Activity meetings are free and open to the general public. Visitors are welcomed to stop by and join us.
- equipment - Visitors are asked to bring their own board, set and clock as none are available on site.
- user cards & fee - The City of Laredo has mandated that all recreational center users register for a PARKS activity card which enables the holder to use any of the various recreational centers throughout the city. The annual fee is $5.00. Cards can be obtained at any rec center.
