The sequel to the last of the popular Romancing SaGa series, Romancing SaGa 3, SaGa Frontier looks to be very promising. Square has outdone itself in this title, only improving upon the original, and retaining such features as the Free Scenario System, which made Romancing SaGa 3 so good. And it's on the PlayStation, so the graphics and sound are top of the line! What more could you ask for?
SaGa Frontiers' plot is very dynamic in a few unique ways. SaGa Frontier is still going with the Freedom Scenario system. This is sort of like in FF3, when the moogle makes you choose a scenario to follow. It just allows for more control in the game, which I pesonally like. In addition to this Free Scenario System, SaGa Frontier includes many characters, as said before, from many diverse, and unique regions of this fantasy world, providing some variety. Scrap is a lean-to village, while Margmel is an alien inhabited region, and the the town of Nelson, is a port town.
In SaGa Frontier, there are four types of characters in which you can use. The four types being Humans, Robots, Devils, and Monsters. Each type has it's owns strengths and weaknesses that make them essential in completing certain tasks. For instance, Humans can use weapons and different types of Magic. And some can even alter their appearance. Mechas are machines that are armed with powerful weaponry. Ghosts too can wield Magic just as Humans can, but their skill is far more advanced. Monsters can only absorb their enemies' abilities, and when this occurs, they become new monsters.
The party system of SaGa Frontier is unique. It is because whenever you acquire a new party member, instead of automatically adding them to your party, you can pick and choose who goes where and when. Even during battle, if you require a particular character, you can change then. The only limitation to the party systems is that you may only have five characters in your party at one time.
If you like the original Romancing SaGa Series, this game improves upon what made the original so great in the first place.
