Chapter III
The next day, Hearston and Michele set out. Hearston took his cutlass and Michele brought her spear. Hearston was giving Brian, his "friend" instructions about watching his mansion.
"Check it once a day, do not stay too long, watch it day and night letting no one in unless they are someone I hath sent, and above all, touch nothing!"
"Y-yes sir," stammered Brian. He was a small man, who associated with Hearston merely because it increased his social status. The truth was, he did not like Brain one bit.
"Michele, tell him what would happen if any of my money should disappear," said Hearston.
"I snap that tiny twig he calls a neck," said Michele, in a menacing tone.
They started out the city, while Brian wet his pants. They reached the gate of the city when they ran into trouble. There sat a deranged man, perhaps the strangest who had ever lived. He wore filthy, torn brown clothing. He had mangy and tangled brown hair, which had obviously not been combed in many years. It also was filthy. His shirt was torn off at the sleeves, and a long scar ran down his left arm, the result of a fight. His name was Mangor, not his real name but a nonsense name he currently called himself. He was lying on the ground, mumbling to himself. He began to scream to no one, when Hearston walked by him and sneered.
Mangor noticed him, and said, "Please sir, may I borrow some money? I need it for…personal reasons."
Hearston stopped dead in his tracks. "You know, Michele," he said, "there are two types of people I hate. Poor people and ignorant people. This fellow fits both categories. He is obviously poor, but also ignorant to ask Lord Hearston Ruslan for any amount of money, great or small. Get out of here, and do not show your face at my city again!"
Mangor softly said, "You just shattered my life, and left me to pick up the pieces." Louder he said, "Why do people like you cause me so much pain?! I avenge myself today!" He stood up, ready to fight.
"Michele, sit this one out. I will handle this madman," said Hearston. He pulled out his cutlass, but Mangor had none of that. He kicked it out of Hearston’s hand. "Very well, I have beaten you mentally, now I shall beat you physically," said Hearston.
They fought, but Mangor’s unpredictability and experience gave him the advantage. Michele joined the fight, and Hearston was glad to have her help. She punched Mangor in the face, then was about to swing her fist again when Mangor caught her hand. She struggled to get it free, when Hearston grabbed his cutlass and swung Mangor on the back of the head, knocking him out. (In the actual game, it would start with Hearston fighting Mangor by himself. In the beginning, Mangor would knock out Hearston’s sword, which of course decreases Hearston’s fighting skill. After this has lasted, Michele would join in and they would fight Mangor together. After all Mangor’s hit points are gone, Michele will punch Mangor twice, who blocks her second punch. Hearston comes from behind and knocks out Mangor).
"Who was that?" gasped Hearston.
"I believe he is a man now known as Mangor," said Michele. "I’ve read about him, he’s a ruthless man. This fellow here matches the description perfectly."
"Well, then we must teach him not to mess with a Ruslan, shall we?" said Hearston. Together they attack him (this would last a few moments) until they decided it was enough. "Did that kill the brute?"
Michele answered, "No. He’s alive, but you’ve broken his ankle, and I broke his leg. I doubt he’ll walk again."
"Perfect," said Hearston with a smile. They walked off and left Mangor to die. "He will not bother us again." They had no idea what trouble they had gotten themselves into.
