00SG : MISSION KARL RESCUE

Introduction

Hello there. My name is Colby Taylor, a member of 00SG. Me and my friends are on a mission to rescue another friend, Karl Lewis. Karl was an artist who spoke his mind. He's notorious for doing that, and kudos to him. He was captured one day, why exactly we don't know for sure. He was taken into a dungeon of sorts which was in a building where I used to work. I was working there as some lousy helper, something like a cleaner of sorts. I told Karl in his cell that I was going to let him out, no matter what. I quit my job a few months later to start work on rescuing Karl. I knew I couldn't do it myself so I had a few friends who were also good friends with Karl to help me out.

The most enthusiastic was Darren Stanley Hayes, the brains of the group. He's my best friend. He was also my partner for a while before we figured out that we just couldn't do it ourselves. I gave Daz the nickname Nightingale coz he loves to sing...and may I add that he does a really fine job at it as well. He is the one who helps sort out who does what, when and where. If there's any mess, he'll clean it up. He designated me as the spy, for he knows of my previous job at the 'dungeon'. He can be a little zany at times, though...he once INSISTED we call him Bono for some reason but I didn't. 'Bono' won't have suited him well anyway.

Darren's other best friend - besides me - is Daniel Jones, who we call the Dan Man. Dan's the physical one of the group. He's usually the one we send off to see what Karl was up to. He has guts alright! Besides sports, Dan is EXCELLENT in playing music instruments of any kind. Just name it and he'll play it for you. He wasn't so sure at first when we asked him to join but when we told him that it was for Karl, he immediately agreed. After all, he IS Karl's good friend. We decided to let him do the tough jobs coz he's a lot stronger than all of us put together. Amazingly, he doesn't have much of a muscle on himself!

Nicole McIntyre is a very cool friend I met at school. She's the other brain of the group. Nic cracks the codes Karl uses to write his messages in when he passed them over to Dan. She's also the resident computer hacker, although she doesn't do all those stupid things hackers do for nothing. She's also the person we go to if we have any problems with our own selves, which I can safely say doesn't happen often.

Together, the 4 of us - me, Daz, Dan & Nic, the official members of 00SG - go on our way to rescue the innocent Karl from the deadly clutches of injustice and release him into a world of freedom - in Karl's case freedom of speech. Let us go on!

Oh, and by the way, I know some of you might be thinking that I'm doing a bad thing by betraying my previous workplace. Well, I'm a good girl. I'm more of a good girl than you think. Now on with the story...

Chapter One

Tring tring! That darn clock has GOT to go...keeps annoying me with some electronic bells just so it can wake me up. Why can't the clever inventors make an alarm clock that plays MUSIC? Well, I've got to wake up sometime, and I'll better get up right this minute. I'll have to meet up with the others in a while.

Tasty breakfast, nice shower, now time to set off. I get on my rollerskates and skate to our meeting place. I see Nic riding her bike there too. As both of us reach there, I see that the Nightingale and the Dan Man have arrived already, probably waiting for us girls. Poor guys, we must have kept them waiting forever.

Daz tells us to start and soon our empty spot is noisier than a zoo. I tell everyone to say something 'one at a time' and soon we understand what the other is saying. Dan tells us that Karl has sent him an extra-long message, in code as usual. Nic takes a look at the message and shakes her head in regret. She tells us that this message is in a code that even she doesn't understand, and that Karl has forgotten to send in a code key to help them out.

"Judging from the way he wrote this," deduced Nic, "he didn't leave out the code key on purpose. He was in some sort of hurry, probably worried that the guards would catch him in the act. Had he decided to write down the code key, he'll be in deep trouble." I agree with her, telling the others that at Karl's dungeon - where I used to work, remember? - anyone caught writing ANYTHING for any reason will be tortured harshly. Everyone curdled up with fear. Luckily noone fainted...not that I wanted anyone to faint of course!

Nic tells us that it'll take her at least 3 days for her to figure it out It may even take a week. Dan offers to check on Karl later. Daz and I sort out everyone's duties and while Daz decides to get a diary for the group, I decide to find out more about my previous workplace. Any news, any info, ANYTHING would be useful for us. All of us leave the spot. Tata bye bye!

(No, no, no, the story's not over yet. That was me saying bye bye to the rest of 00SG, not to you! Stay here, OK? Read on...)

I skate back to my apartment and bring out a notebook I used to have in my days in the dungeon. Oh wait, I haven't told you what is the name of the dungeon? Silly me...well, it's named Prison Of The Hapless. OK, so it's not a dungeon, but if you went there and saw it, you'll know what I mean.

ANYWAY, I was reading my notebook - which I jot into whenever I walk back to my apartment - and couldn't believe at what I read. So much useful info, in what I used to consider as trash material. I was going to call up my mates, but unfortunately for me, all 3 of them were not in. Daz's gone to shop for a few supplies, Nic is probably on the Net while Dan has gone somewhere...most likely the rock-climbing wall which is opposite his house. Guess I'm all alone, as usual. Sigh.

Other than that, it was an uneventful day. Guess I'll just have to hope that it won't be the case tomorrow. Good night!
