"I know what it is but I won't tell you," said Daniel as the trio (him, Darren and Leonie) walked towards the dining room. "I don't want to spoil a surprise!"
"It'll certainly spoil the surprise for you," replied Leonie. Daniel couldn't help but agree.
"Yeah, my powers do have a downside," said Daniel. "Nothing's a surprise for me anymore!"
"Well, you could always control your powers," said Darren. "You could decide what you want to know and what you don't want to know just yet."
"Whatever's on YOUR mind isn't exactly on my 'Want To Know' list," retorted Daniel, looking squarely at Darren's eyes. Leonie couldn't help but notice that Darren was turning a bright beet red.
"Whatever happened to Darren?" asked Leonie.
"Just like Daniel said - you won't want to know!" replied Darren, trying to regain his composure. They have reached the dining table, and everyone, including Daniel, was amazed at the lunch spread. Daniel had already expected their lunch - garden salad, corn on the cob and roast chicken - but his powers didn't allow him to actually predict the different scents and flavours that would emancipate. Everyone happily devoured their lunch, courtesy of the excellent cooks known as Walter and Michelle. They decided to spend the rest of the day chit-chatting and finding out what else Daniel could do, as none of them felt like doing any recording for the day.
"Okay, let's see what we know you can do so far," said Darren, holding out a notepad and a pen. "You can predict the future, read people's minds, produce things just by wishing for them..."
"You can also float, move things with your mind and have a really high I.Q.," continued Nicole, the last being discovered when she brought out a mind-teasers book for everyone to play with. "Anything else?"
"Well, I know I have the power to give excellent back rubs and make people day-dream of me," said Daniel, winking at Darren. Adopting a seductive voice, he then continued, "Isn't that right, Darren dah-ling..."
"Oh shut up!" said Darren, his voice a unique mixture of shyness and anger. Daniel had decided to tell everyone about Darren's day-dream earlier that day, and now Darren was the brunt of all their jokes. Darren wasn't very happy, but he knew he had no one to blame. It was, after all, his day-dream.
"Poor Darren," said Anna-Maria. "Well, is that all you can do?"
"You know, I have a feeling there's more to come," replied Daniel. "I guess we have to wait and see."
