3x3 Eyes (pronounced "three by three eyes") is the creative masterpiece of Yuzo Takada, who has created some other brilliant series including "Cat Girl Nuku Nuku" and "Blue Seed". Recently, Pioneer Anime picked up the rights to 3x3 Eyes. They re-released the whole series (volume 7 included) on VHS and in a terrific DVD box set. The dubbed version is a new dub, done for the Pioneer release. This dub is more accurate than the Orien dub, but, more importantly, subtitled 3x3 Eyes is now available here. Currently Dark Horse is publishing 3x3 Eyes in a monthy anthology called "Super Manga Blast." My advice is to go to your nearest comic book/anime store and ask for it right now. SMB picks up where Dark Horse left off when they originally released 3x3 Eyes comic books (a whole five of them). 3x3 Eyes has a strong fan base and has spawned numerous products, from video games to pencil boards, calendars to plush dolls, there is something for every collector.
3x3 Eyes, or Sazan Eyes, has one of the best story lines ever seen in an anime series. Love, drama, action, comedy; 3x3 Eyes has it all and it is tied together brilliantly. 3x3 Eyes is intended for mature audiences, not for sex or foul language, but for blood and gore. Being an immortal zombie, of course Yakumo's going to get whooped every once in a while. The first series, volumes 1-4, contains a lot of blood, mostly because Yakumo gets creamed by just about every powerful monster that he comes across, not to mention a bus^_^. The second series, 5-7, contains more balanced battles, meaning Yakumo finally learns to fight back. The manga is more mature than the anime for the same blood and gore, but also for brief nudity and language. Believe it or not, the anime is actually a toned down animated version of the manga. If you really enjoy 3x3 Eyes, you'll want to pick up the manga and see it in it's original form.
You may like 3x3 Eyes if you enjoy anime with...The manga is wonderful. Unfortunaltly, currently there are only a couple of volumes translated into english. The good news is, there are translations posted on a few other 3x3 Eyes websites. Lately, there has been a boom of translations of the Japanese manga posted on the web, so Japanese manga owners can read what they're buying. There are several online anime and manga stores where the japanese manga can be bought. Also, the japanese manga can be seen in Young Magazine© (a weekly magazine published in Japan).
