Saviour or Satan
Chapter 2

Luna was distraught, just like that Neo-Queen Serenity had vanished. Lucifer was the Devil himself and who knew when his next attack would be? Endymion was taking his wife’s disappearance hard, Luna could almost felt sorry for Lucifer for crossing Endymion’s path.

In the sky, blood red light emerged from a black hole and everything was destroyed at it’s touch Endymion went to face Lucifer to get his wife back . . . or die trying against everyone’s attempts to hold him back, he was just too crazy with rage to know the risks.

"LUCIFER! FIGHT ME IF YOU DARE COWARD!" He hollered into the black abyss into the sky.

The red light stopped, there were two blazes of black flames. Lucifer appeared in one, and the caged Serenity appeared in the other. She gasped when she two warriors facing off with her as the prize going to the victor.

Lucifer was black as the world he ruled, his goat legs and man-like chest rippled with the power of death, he had large bull-like horns on his head stained red by the blood of many innocents. His eyes were black with red slivers for pupils. The right side of his body looked like it had been burned long ago. He laughed maniacally.

"So! You choose to join your weak mate in the dark recess of Hell!"

"She will join with me after your death!"

"FOOL!" Lucifer roared. "I AM DEATH!"

Endymion drew his sword, so did Lucifer. The two ran towards each other and clashed. A metal clang as the swords met and fought to try and strike the other. Neo-Queen Serenity watched in horror as her beloved and Lucifer were dodging the other’s strike. Endymion stabbed Lucifer, but no blood welled from the ordinarily fatal wound. The fight had lasted much longer than either side had expected it though. The battle ended when Lucifer delivered a fatal wound to Endymion and locked him up with Serenity. Serenity cradled her husband’s head in her arms while staring balefully at Lucifer, hoping to unnerve him. He merely laughed before teleporting himself and his victims as hostages or prisoners of war. The Senshi watched the whole battle in shock, now, both the King and Queen were gone! A small and frightened face peers out from around a corner.

"Small Lady!" Diana hissed. "We should be hiding! Both of us are at a risk!"

"Hai." Chibi-Usa muttered. But she had other things in mind as she snuck off to her room with Diana riding on her head.

"Diana, tell me everything you can remember about this Alicorn creature. Please?"

"What I’ve already told you is all I know."

"Hmmm."

"So! You thought that you could defeat me Endymion-sama! How very foolish of you! The only one that has defeated me will have nothing more of you weak and pathetic humans." He absentmindedly touched his burned side. "Baka Alicorn, her and that white flame nearly destroyed me. I will have my revenge!" Lucifer muttered darkly as he stormed off to prepare his next attack.

"Mamo-chan, are you going to be alright?"

"The wound is fatal, Lucifer’s dark power is keeping me alive so I suffer. Usako, what do you know about the Alicorn he was talking about?"

"I remember her clearly now from the Moon Kingdom. Her name is Sarah and she almost died trying to protect us, do you remember?"

The gates which held his memories flew open and all his memories of the Moon Kingdom returned to him, he remembered Sarah trying to hold off Beryl-sama.

"I remember now, everyone thought she was dead. All these millennium alone, I wonder how she survived."

"Not easily I think. She must have been distraught." Serenity whispered softly.

"We didn’t heed her warning, she might not come to try and save us this time."

Serenity shook her head.

"No, I think she’ll come. When she does, I have a few questions to ask."

Chibi-Usa ran to the grand palace library. She was positive what she needed to know was there in one of the thousands of books.

Scooting up the ladder with Diana on the floor looking at her in curiosity, Chibi-Usa gave a small yell of success as she opened the book and flipped through the ‘A’ section.

ALICORNS

Ancient legends tell of a magnificent beast resembling a very large Unicorn with wings. Amongst the many legends told, the one most well known it the Hidden Valley, the home of the Alicorns and many other wondrous beasts. Though many have searched for it, none have been successful. It is said that the Hidden Valley admits all animals and humans who are pure of heart and seek no trouble. Those who pose a threat to it are violently repelled.

"Scary." Diana said. "Wait a minute . . . are you thinking . . ?"

"I’m going to find that Alicorn and ask for her help Diana."

"Don’t go! It’s far too dangerous!"

"You can’s stop me Diana." Chibi-Usa said as she tied the objecting kitten to a chair. Chibi-Usa started slinking in the shadows to avoid being noticed.

The palace suddenly shook and quivered as Lucifer continued his barrage against earth. Diana used her teeth and claws to break the string before she was able to run to the Senshi who were planning to hold one last meeting. Chibi-Usa used this opportunity and snuck out of the palace before running for the forest.

"She did WHAT?!" Jupiter roared at Diana.

"I tried to stop her but she tied me to a chair and ran." Diana said meekly.

"We’ve got to go after her!" Mars said.

"Lucifer’s barrage is very strong, my estimate is that none of us will make it to the forest." Mercury sadly told them.

"We’ve got to try." Venus said with pure determination.

"Luna, Artemis, Diana, stay here. We’re going after Chibi-Usa." Mars ordered as the lone four Inner Senshi darted outside the protection of the palace and ran for their lives, literally.

Chibi-Usa barely managed to dart under the tree cover when one of Lucifer’s red lightning threatened to kill her. <Thank goodness for the Sailor Senshi training I received in the past!> She thought as she hurdled a log and continued running. A large bear suddenly stood up in front of her and roared. She stopped on a dime and looked up at the nine-foot, thousand pound beast. She was about to transform and scare the bear away when she remembered what Diana told her long ago.

(((flashback)))

"Animals that can’t speak do understand humans if you keep it simple."

(((end flashback)))

"Matte!" Chibi-Usa screamed to the bear. The bear paused and looked down at the tiny girl.

"Please! Let me through to the Hidden Valley, I need to talk to the Alicorn that lives there. The world we share is going to die without her help!" She begged. The bear dropped on all fours and sniffed her. Chibi-Usa was paralysed with fear. The bear merely grunted and walked away. Chibi-Usa began to follow it.

The Inner Senshi were zig zagging, trying to avoid the red lightning that wanted to kill them all. Two bolts struck Mercury and Venus, stopping them cold and killing them, Mars and Jupiter couldn’t look back at their fallen comrades as they run on.

*************************

The bear led her to the edge of the Hidden Valley and walked away, Chibi-Usa walked in nervously.

"Moshi-moshi?" She called, afraid of what might approach. Then she saw an Alicorn silhouette not far from where she stood and ran towards it.

"Please! You must come with me! We need your help to defeat Lucifer!" She shouted urgently.

Sarah turned an eye on her and continued to ignore her.

"Please!?"

"Tell me child of Neo-Queen Serenity, do your guardians know you are here?"

Chibi-Usa shifted nervously and shook her head.

"Were you really expecting my help?"

"No . . . But I was told that it never hurts to ask."

"So, you severely endanger the lives of those you love to seek aid from someone who you know will refuse. Tell me child, what would your guardians do if they found you missing?"

"They would come after me. Why are you asking this? You obviously know the answers."

"That is true, have you ever heard the expression ‘every action has a consequence’?"

"Yeah, I’ve heard of it."

"It seems then, that your action’s led to four consequences. You didn’t think your guardians would stay in the palace while you sought me did you?"

"Four . . .?"

"Take a look in the viewing globe child, you will see the meaning of my enigmatic words."

Sarah stepped back and let Chibi-Usa have a look. She screamed at the sight of Mars, Mercury, Jupiter and Venus lying dead where Lucifer’s lightning had struck them.

"NOOOOOOOOO! AIEEEEEEE!" She screamed, Sarah turned and walked away. Chibi-Usa saw her leaving and grabbed Sarah’s tail.

"You can’t leave now! What about everyone who died trying to beat Lucifer! Now you have to help! Otherwise the world will be lost . . ." Chibi-Usa began to cry.

"I am sorry, but I simply don’t interfere with human business anymore." Sarah said as she extracted her tail and continued walking.

"THEN I’LL FACE LUCIFER ALONE!" She screamed at the disappearing Alicorn before running back towards the crystal palace.

When the palace came into her view, it was totally unrecognizable. The palace was destroyed.

"LUCIFER! FACE ME!" Chibi-Usa howled into the black vortex. The lightning stopped and Lucifer appeared, with Serenity and Endymion in the cage behind him. He started laughing when he saw little Chibi-Usa.

"A child . . . is the last . . . defence? A powerless child!" He managed to choke out between howls of laughter. He suddenly dropped to the ground, still laughing.

"Correction Lucifer, a loving child and an Alicorn."

Lucifer wasn’t laughing anymore.

"You!" He spat.

"You came after all . . .!"

"Release your hostages Lucifer, they are not part of our war."

"Sure, but if I do, here’s the catch. If the bars go down, the King dies from his wound."

"Do it." Sarah replied smoothly.

Lucifer let Serenity and Endymion go, Endymion expired and his loving wife and daughter stayed with him. The tone in Sarah’s ‘voice’ let them know that she knew what she was doing.

The ancient war began again between the two powerful entities, Sarah’s silver horn blazed white and a barrage of white fire struck Lucifer. He screamed as he burned and was forever banished, powerless, to Hell. Even though Lucifer was gone, Sarah’s horn still blazed white. The flames floated up and departed from her horn. They took the shape of a crystal, a horn, with wings. Sarah began to chant in her mysterious language.

A huge wave of white washed over the world, restoring all that had been destroyed by Lucifer.

Another white wave exploded from the crystal and restored all wrongfully stolen souls to their rightful bodies. The last wave restored life from death and the crystal vanished back into her horn.

Endymion stirred, Sarah began walking away.

"Wait!" Sarah stopped. "What made you change your mind?" Chibi-Usa asked.

"When you came and begged for my help, I felt a great power from you that I did not understand so I tried to ignore it. But it kept nagging at me. Suddenly I knew what it was and I came."

"What was it?"

"Something I had lost long ago. I once said that one more would make the difference between victory and death. I was right."

"Nani?"

"That ‘one more’ was you child, you and your love for everything was the difference between victory and death. I will visit when I can, I must hold love now, instead of letting it go. Arigato." Then Sarah vanished in her green flames.

"Ja ne Sarah, arigato." Serenity whispered as the family walked back home to their palace.
