First TV Series
The TV series Mahou no Princess Minky Momo (The princess of magic Minky Momo), created by Takeshi Shudo (dramatist) and Kunihiko Yuyama (director), was broadcasted in Japan weekly from March 18th, 1982 to May 26th, 1983 running for 63 episodes. It was broadcasted later in France, Italy, Korea, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and several other countries.

OVAS of the first TV series
Due to the success of the TV series, in July of 1985 a 80 minutes OVA was made. The title was Yume no naka no rondo - La ronde in my dream. In United States it was edited and released by Harmony Gold in 1987 as Gigi and the fountain of Youth and was re-released in 1994 as The Magical Princess Gigi. This edited version was also dubbed in Spanish by other companies and released as Gigi y la fuente de la juventud.

Second TV Series
In 1991 there was a second Minky Momo TV series in Japan of 62 episodes broadcasted on wednesdays from October 2nd, 1991 to December 23th,1992. The second Minky Momo TV series was also created by Takeshi Shudo and Kunihiko Yuyama. There were several differences over the original TV series. Maybe the most drastic and obvious changes were in the design of the main characters. Minky Momo has a more appealing design, while her pets had a totally different look and name. Regarding the name, they just changed a little the original name in order to get a new one. For example, the bird Pipiru in the first TV series was renamed for the second TV series as Rupipi, the monkey Mocha was renamed as Chamo, and the dog Shindobukku as Kukku Bukku. All of the voice actors were changed. The role of Minky Momo was assigned to the now very popular Megumi Hayashibara, who should have the record of the most used female voice for main roles in anime series.

OVAS of the second TV Series
There are two OVAs: Yume ni Kakeru Hashi - Minky Momo in the bridge for your tomorrow (1993) and Tabidachi no eki (The station of embarkation, 1994). As far as I know, these OVAs were not released outside Japan.
